Show Will ENDEAVOR TO HELP HORTICULTURE A. G. Stoddard to Tell State Officials About Needs of Industry. The interests of the horticulturists of Utah are going to be strongly set forth to the members of the legislature and executives of the state by A. G. Stoddard, Stod-dard, recently chosen president of the Utah State Horticultural society, who wants sufficient money to accomplish the purposes of the society and to rescue res-cue the horticultural industry from its present lapse. President Stoddard has written to J. Edward Taylor, state horticultural inspector, in-spector, that he is preparing an outline of facts concerning the fruit industry, its needs, what other states are doing for the encouragement of the industry within their borders, what the society is doing and what the sfatenust do in the way of co-operation to maintain its place in the growing and selling industry. indus-try. The specific points as outlined by President Stoddard for the basis of his argument for better state support are questions which he proposes to unswer in detail. They are: 1 What is being done by other states to hold up the hands of societies such as the Utah State Horticultural society? - What is a conservative estimate of the fruit acreage in Utah? 3 What constitutes a fairly conservative conserva-tive estimate of the capital 'tied up in the fruit raising industry in Utah, and in businesses closely identified with it and depending upon it? 1 What has caused the present collapsed col-lapsed state of the industry as a whole in the state of Utah? 5 What a well-financed state horticultural horti-cultural society could do for the industry indus-try under present conditions. |
