So too might the Jets and Cincinnati, Cincin-nati, but they're very long shots. Earl Campbell can't continue to carry the whole Oiler team. By PETE FRITICHIE Thus far, the major disappointments disappoint-ments in the National Football League are Washington in the National Conference East, Oakland, in the American Conference West and New England En-gland in American Conference East. THESE TEAMS were expected ex-pected to be powers, perhaps with the exception of Washington, Washing-ton, which was thought to be good. Washington hasn't been good and while New England was picked by knowing souls like George Allen to be near the top in their division, they've been losing. Oakland Oak-land the superbowl champions cham-pions have looked anything but that, shut out twice in succession suc-cession recently. Philadelphia, Dallas, San Diego and Miami have been impressive, and Miami surprisingly sur-prisingly so. Buffalo is also strong; Pittsburgh is still a factor, fac-tor, Denver surprisingly strong and Los Angeles seems to be getting things together. Atlanta is strong, but maybe not as hot as some expected the Falcons to be. ONE GETS the feeling that unless Green Bay has a winning win-ning year, Bart Starr will have to go. One also has a hunch that Tampa Bay must win or quarterback Doug Williams will have to go. Bud Grant has made the Vikings respectable again, showing what a good coach can do. Chicago is a disappointment, dis-appointment, again. Kansas City and St. Louis are interesting this year and Baltimore is capable of winning win-ning on any given Sunday.
