Long Term Care Under Study FARMINGTON As part of a statewide assessment effort of long-term care available avail-able for senior citizens, two county department heads are continuing efforts at spearheading spear-heading a study to determine availability of such services in Davis Countv. LARRY BLRDETT, United Way executive director, and Alice Johnson, director of the county's council on aging, are continuing a study called largely large-ly due to Medicaid funding cuts. In a report to the county's coordinating council. Tuesday morning, Ms. Johnson said a variety of care options are to be studied although those are still being determined. She made example of the council on aging's alternatives program prog-ram where some under the age of 60 can receive assistance in meeting a wide variety of needs. SUPPLEMENTARY care, rather than placement in a nursing home, for example. must be looked at in light of funding cuts, she said, along with innovative ways to utilize existing facilities, including nursing homes, many with a shortage of clients. An all-encompassing program, prog-ram, it will include anyone needing long-term care such as handicapped children needing a foster or adoptive home, mentally handicapped and physically impaired. |
