Show Escalante Events Marilyn Jackson The Easter holiday was brightened bright-ened by the appearance of apricot .blossoms, dandelions and tinges of green. In conjunction with the Utah State Extension Service, students at the elementary school have been watching chickens hatch. Among the holiday visitors were Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Chatterton who stayed at the Isabelle Spencer home. Mr. and Mrs. Al Barlow came from California to begin plans on their retirement home. The Ronald Mecham family came from Las Vegas to be with the S tarns Mechams. Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Alvey joined the families of daughter Denise Dube and Raylene Whitefield in Las Vegas. Deon Alvey recently was awarded a certificate for completing -schooling on disaster preparation with hazardous materials. Sisters Lucinda Duncan and Helen Pruitt brought their families to spend the vacation with the Melvin Alveys. Mr. and Mrs. El-wood El-wood Willis of the Richfield area were here with the Ivan Willis family. Mr. and Mrs. Carlyle Shurtz joined the Steve Collards and shared Easter weekend with the Shurtz relatives. rel-atives. Mary Ellen Rice of Rich-. Rich-. field accompanied the Reed Jack-sons Jack-sons of Torrey to the Thomas Jackson home. Thelma Marsh went to Cedar City to watch the Woolsey children while Dr. and Mrs. Warren Woolsey traveled to Scotland to get (heir son Glen Woolsey who completed com-pleted an LDS mission there. They loured England and Ireland and celebrated cele-brated the Easter weekend there. Glen Woolsey will report his mission mis-sion April 10 in Cedar City. :" The Vergean Porter family met at Veyo for their Easter picnic. They will travel to Salt Lake City this weekend to meet son Clint who is returning from an LDS mission in New Zealand. Lenora Griffin is proud of her Posterity. With the recent birth of Brandon David Woolsey, she now has five great-great-grandchildren. The baby is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Woolsey, grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Lane Woolsey and Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Alvey. Great-grandparents Great-grandparents include Mabel Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Arlis Brooks and Mr. and Mrs. Vaidon Woolsey. Elise Ott is also a great-great-grandmother. Various members of the Wallace Woolsey family met for Easter. Son, Gary Woolsey and wife are building a new home in the St. George area. Son, Boyd Woolsey has recently been transferred to Enoch where he is highway a patrolman. pa-trolman. Rex Masters got home from the hospital in time for the holiday weekend. Carl Davis took a few days off work at the state park to be with wife, Leslie Davis, who is recovering re-covering from major surgery at Valley View Medical Center. New park ranger, Mike Nealley, is here getting acquainted with the job at the Wide Hollow reservoir. Mr. and Mrs. Sharon Griffin brought Cora Shakespear to spend the holiday with the Vernon Griffins and Ethel Griffin. Berthene Griffin joined Mr. and Mrs. Brad Griffin at the Wade Barney Bar-ney home. Mr. and Mrs. J.C. Haws are here renovating the Polly Spencer home which they have recently purchased. They plan to make it a summer home. The families of Myron Cottam and Reed Munson spent the holiday on Lake Powell where they rented a houseboat Mr. and Mrs. Quay Simons joined their family in Toquerville where they took advantage of the long weekend and remodeled the kitchen for her parents. Little league, T-Ball and pony league are scheduled to begin soon. Volunteer coaches and referees are needed. If you can help, call Quay or Carol Simons. Montell Jordan traveled to Michigan to visit friends there. At the Norman Christensen home were his brother Larry Christensen Chris-tensen and wife, Ruth, of Layton; Mr. and Mrs. Sam Blauser of Stockton; the Clyde Christensens of Tooele; the Gary Danklefs of Cedar City; and Chris Christensen, Justin Christensen, and Julee Lyman Ly-man of Boulder. Henry Bolton was transported by ambulance to Garfield Memorial Hospital in Panguitch following an accident in his field where he was working. Charley Greenwood, who has been a conservation officer with the Division of Wildlife Resources in Escalante since 1985, has been transferred to Vernal where he will take over as the regional game biologist bi-ologist there. Tom Becker who has been working as a technician for the state on a federal cougar study has been transferred to Hardware (Elk) Ranch in Cache Valley where he will serve as assistant superintendent. Wally Van Sickle will take over Tom's duties on the cougar study here. The Willows Trailer Court has been converted to a private residential residen-tial lot. The juniors at Escalante High School are decorating for their junior ju-nior prom which is set for Saturday evening. Justice is the band they have chosen for the special event |
