Show THE OGDEN VALLEY NEWS Page 4 May Eden Woman Honored As Feature Soloist Eden resident Marie Ogden has been given the honor of being a featured soloist with The West Symphony. ih ing the Telemann Viola Concerto. She has been a member of the symphony for the past 14 years, and has had the privilege of being principal viola for the past four. She has also been a featured soloist for violin, guitar, and vocal. Marie has taught herself to play 12 different instruments, including the violin, cello, bass, clarMarie Ogden net, flute, saxophone, piano, oboe, trombone, arity, and percussion. She recently started studying viola from Grover Wilhelmsen, owner of Strings Unlimited. Marie is also in her fourth year as the orchestra teacher at Valley Elementary, and teaches private lessons ee the Valley. Marie is director of the Ogden Valley Chamber Orchestra, string sectional assistant for the Lincoln Youth Symphony; and plays with the Lake Bonneville Symphony of Brigham C oe the New American Symphony, and Aspen Strings. Ogden will perform the concerto on June 3, 2006 at Granger High School in West Valley Ci ity. The symphony will | pean a ai of Tei for the 15th season of the symphony byDonny Gilbert. Tickets to the performance are $5.00. Fifty percent of every ticket purchased directly from Marie will be donated to the Lincoln Youth Symphony of Brigham City. Shakespeare Comes to Huntsville Park The Polar Star Shakespearean Players present the third annual “Shakespeare in the Park.” The cultural event will be held May 27, 2006 at the Huntsville Park and amphitheater. Come and enjoy the ambiance as Huntsville Park is transformed into the stage for the production of the comedy Twelfth Night. Mistaken identities, intrigue, and a whole lot of fun will make for a great evening of family entertainment Come at 6:00 for a delicious homemade at eat dinner before the show, which starts at 7:00 p.m. Make sure to bring your blankets and chairs so you can sit while enjoying the play. Dinner is $6.00 per person; the show $4.00 per person or $15.00 per family. All proceeds from the event will be used to fund a trip to the Shakespearean Festival for the actors. I loved to shapes, and movement that are intense and colorfully diverse. Alison’s desire to connect with others is portrayed ey her art. Her intention is to reachout and awaken the memory of our divine SOETAL which she believes is sometimes buried deep within us. Alison hopes when viewing her art, you will experience a love of self and others—acceptance of one another, and appreciation of all things feminine. Eccles Art Center Announces Art Competition The Eccles Community Art Center in Ogden is announcing a call for entry for its 32nd Annual Statewide Competition. This competition is open to all artists who presently reside in the state of Utah. Original work in any medium, including paintings, prints, monoprints, drawings, graphics, pottery, sculptures, and textiles are eligible. Photographs are not eligible. (A statewide photographic competition will be held in February 2007). No digital compilations or digitally enhanced work will be accepted. Works must have been completed within the past two years and not have been previously exhibited in a juried exhibit sponsored by the Eccles Community Art Artists are limited to a total of two entries. Entry fees are $8 per entry, and are used for prize money and publicity and are not refundable. Entries must be clearly identified by the artist with title, medium and price/insurance value. the artist at the time of entry. Original works will be accepted on Friday, June 23, 2006 from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m.; and on Saturday, June 24, 2006 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon at the Eccles Community Art Center, 2580 Jefferson Ave., Ogden This is a juried competition, and works accepted by the jurors will be exhibited and awards presented. The Eccles Community Art Center will present monetary awards for first, second, third winners, and a purchase award determined by the Eccles Community Art Center Board of Directors. Works purchased become a part of the Art Center’s permanent collection. A reception for artists, friends, and the community will be held Friday, July 7, 2006 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Art Center.
