Show Republican Caucus. Washington, April 12. The republican repub-lican caucus -committee having under consideration tho question of legislation on the silver question, had another meetiug today. They are still in session, ses-sion, while 'the subject is being thoroughly thor-oughly discussed with a view to arriving arriv-ing at some common ground upon which all can stand. Secretary Window was before tho committee today and by invitation remained re-mained with the committee about two hours enuaged in discussion. He was not disposed to intrude upon the original orig-inal bill but expressed himself as w illing ill-ing to accept the tonne of the measure reported by tho house committee. The session of the committee lasted until 2 o'clock and then adjournment was taken until Monday morning. After further discussion a voto was taken and the minorify substitute resolution reso-lution declaring tho seat vacant, defeated, de-feated, yeas, Hi); nays, 183. No vote was taken on any proposition proposi-tion and no conclusion readied. The delay in arriving at au agreement appeal's ap-peal's to lie caused by the insistence of the extreme silver men upon the absolute abso-lute free coinage. The conservative element favors the house bill and there is leaven of restrictive feeling at work. |
