The second annual convention of tho Young People's Societies of Christion Endeavor iu Utah, will be held on Tues-dap, Tues-dap, April 15th. The afternoon session begins at 2 o'clock at the First Congregational Congre-gational church. Two-minute reports of tho societies, short addresses nnd palters pa-lters by pastors and lay workers will make up tho programme. Children's meeting will be held at 4 o'clock, with a crayon talk by Miss Hattie E. Turner and a twenty-minute address by Rev. V. E. Clark. I). ., of Rostoti, founder of the first Christian ..Endeavor society and president of the united societies. Tho question box w ill be conducted by Dr. (Mark. A grand evening meeting w ill be held in the M. E. church at 7:1(0 o'clock. The music will be led by a chorus choir of fifty voices, with special selections by a double male ipiartette. There will be an address by Rev. Dr. Clark. Consecration Conse-cration meeting at the close. Everybody, Every-body, old and young, is earnestly urged to attend these inspiring meetings. Utah Christian Endeavor Union. , The Soi lnl Hour Dunce, One of the most brilliant balls of the season was given last night in the Twentieth ward hall by the Social Hour club. It was a grand character ball aud the last which will be given by that club this season. The hall room presented a. darling appearance with the brilliant and elegant costumes which were worn by the attendants. Among the most brilliant costumes were those worn by Mrs. C. M. Ciimiuings, an Oriental dancing girl; Miss Louie Rowe, a Spanish peasant girl; Miss Edna Wells, a fisher woman; Mins Deane Kimball, as Priscilla; Miss Queenie Ferguson, as the (ioddess of Liberty; Miss Whitney, a Dutch peasant peas-ant girl; Miss Vinson, Zenol, iu "Fra Diavlo;" Miss Mary llonincy, peasant; Miss Ida Dayncs, Daughter of the Regiment; Miss Simmons, Red Riding Rid-ing Hood; Miss Lena Rrown, an English Eng-lish court lady; Miss IJowring, French peasant; Miss M. Rrown, frost, or the bride; Miss Baloy, Swiss peasant; Miss Taylor, a gypsy; and Mr. J, Swenson, Uncle Sam; J. Lewis and E. Richards, bakers; W. S. Romney, Prince of Normandy; Nor-mandy; J. D. Owen, Lionel; J. S. Acker, Prince Arthur; L. U. Moore, Prince of Wales. Resides these there were innumerable elegant and well i j gotten-up characters. j |
