Show AN tXi'EKT ACCOUNTANT. A New1 Hjnteni In "the Science of Bookkeeping. Book-keeping. "Hello there," said Harry R.Browne, tho expert accountant at 251 Main street to a reporter this morning. "So you have coiue dow n to learn how "an oflico of this kind is run, have you? Well, I really don't know how I can explain. My business is to audit or adjust ad-just complicated accounts. For instance, in-stance, when a set of books become tangled through carelessness or otherwise, other-wise, I am supposed to properly adjust the errors and lind tho correct balance, or perhaps some large busiiiess like stock companies and corporations who havo a secretary and various bookkeepers book-keepers will secure my services to audit the accounts. That is to prove the work current. Iu addition lo this I am retained by several gentlemen whoso business calls them elsewhere most of the time, to oversee tho olHce work and bookkeeping. I have three tirst-elass assistants who are thoroughly acquainted ac-quainted with my line and together we take caro of everything which comes into the office iu the expert department, besides handling several regular sets of books for prominent business houses. I established my business tho first day of September last and in the interval have worked ou tho books of a great many of our largest houses. My work has not assumed tho proportions I am in hopeg it will, but 1 am satisfied with the results so far aud look for a larger volume of business in the near future. I have never made any great efforts to give particulars to the public, feeling that my standing "ad" iu the different dailies, weeklies, etc., would be a sufficient suffi-cient explanation, but I am glad you havo taken tho trouble to call. One thing more I should like to speak about, and that is my combination check system of accounts. This is a book I have recently invented aud of which I hold tho exclusive right to publish. pub-lish. This book combines the cash and journal in one, and through Us medium is concentrated tho eutries for tho en-tiro en-tiro business, so that every day the volume vol-ume of business may be seen at a glance, aud besides, as thero is a debit for every credit, tho books must balance lo a cent daily, thus doing away with tho necessity of taking tho accounts off tho ledger monthly to find a trial balance. It reduces tho work to a minimum and will prove of inestiinablo value to both employer aud bookkeeper.'! |
