I 1 Hews of Beaver TfMob By JULIE ANN FARRER SPEECH MEET TAKES FORM Students interested in speech activities are working hard to prepare for the annual Speech Meet to be held at St. George March 28 and 29. A play, "Mooncalf Mugford," is being prepared for presentation, presenta-tion, with a cast including Sherry Sher-ry Murdock, Dennis Farns-worth, Farns-worth, Kaye Terry, Joy Payne, Rowland Yardley, John Baldwin Bald-win and Larry Warby. Mr. Borchert is directing the play and also assisting the students stu-dents in preparation of their readings. MILLARD HIGH GIVES ASSEMBLY A traveling assembly from Millard High School was enjoyed en-joyed by the student body last Thursday. B H S enjoys these assemblies from our neighboring schools and looks forward with much anticipation to their coming. AG DEPT. HAS GUEST Max Bowls, field man for the Cache Valley Breeder's Assn., was a guest o'f our Ag Department Depart-ment last Friday. He gave a very interesting and informative informa-tive program, and the boys really enjoyed his visit. B Y U PRESENTS TALENT SHOW The B Y U variety show was presented at Beaver High on Monday. The outstanding display dis-play of talent was, enthusiastically enthusias-tically appreciated. ASSEMBLY PRESENTED "A Trip to the Moon" proved to be an exciting theme for the Seventh and Eighth Grades assembly as-sembly held Tuesday. Some promising talent was uncovered and all performers were members mem-bers of these two classes. Many parents as well as the student body enjoyed the performance. CURTAIN FALLS ON BASKETBALL SEASON Beaver's game with Delta put the finishing touches on a not too successful, but very much enjoyed, basketball season. With a win of two for Beaver, the teammates of B.H.S. said, "well done for this year". On Friday, Feb. 21st, the American Legion Auxiliary held an interesting program on "Americanism." Essays were read by Ruth Fillmore and Kay Terry, first and second - place winners in the senior division essay contest on the flag. Billy Twitchell and Karen Hutchings took the honors hon-ors in the junior division, and also read their compositions. A musical number and a film was also enjoyed. As spring rolls around many activities are on tap for B.H.S. students who are interested. Some of these might be: American Am-erican Legion Oration contest, Speech Meet at Dixie, Music Festival at Parowan, F.F.A.. Parlimentary Procedure and Oration Or-ation Contest at Beaver, F.H.A. Convention, and all kinds of athletic events. An ambitious student can find plenty to do. (Held over from last week) |
