The evening was spent playing play-ing Tuxedo, with prizes going to Carol Blackner, Patsy Hollings-head Hollings-head and Carol Wright. MISS MARTHA BELTRAN, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Beltran of Hailey, Idaho, became be-came the bride of Dan M. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross H. Smith of Beaver, in a double-ring double-ring ceremony performed in the St. Charles Catholic Church, Hailey, on Saturday, Feb. 15. The lovely bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a ballerina length bouffant nylon-silk nylon-silk taffeta wedding gown, embroidered em-broidered in sequins and pearls. Her bridal bouquet was a single white gold-throated orchid, carried car-ried on her white prayer book ,and entwined with her mother's silver and crystal Rosary. AT THE REGULAR meeting of the B P W held Monday evening eve-ning at the home of Lurrena Burridge, "Career Advance-ment" Advance-ment" was discussed, with Na omi Packard as chairman, A 'film, "Miracle Money,," was shown, as one in a series of "crime doesn't pay" films. On Monday evening she was happily surprised when 20 of her friends and neighbors came to spend the evening, and presented pre-sented her with a lovely mirror as a birthday gift. GARY AT-KIN AT-KIN and baby of Ely spent the week end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alton Atkin. "While here they celebrated Gary's birthday and their second wedding wed-ding anniversary. Relaford of Ely, and Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Mar-vin Nelson of Beaver are par- ents of the groom. ! On Friday evening in the ' Beaver First-Third Ward Chapel Mr. and Mrs. Nelson honored the newlyweds at an open ' house. Greeting the guests with ' the newly married couple were their parents, Mrs. Joan Carl-gren, Carl-gren, sister of the bride, as maid 1 of honor, and Roger Vander-berghe Vander-berghe as best man. The bride wore an exquisite wedding gown of lace and nylon tulle. The all-lace bodice was enhanced with a yoke of tulle which was traced with points of lace, and the high neckline was embroidered with a necklace of lace. Her bouquet was an orchid or-chid surrounded by orchid carnations car-nations with carnations tied in orchid streamers. The maid of honor wore a pale green brocaded taffeta sheath dress and carried a bouquet bou-quet of pink roses. White and pink ice cream and cockies were served on small tables during the evening. The three-layer wedding cake was beautiful in white and pink trimmings with a bridal ornament orna-ment on top. Pink candles in crystal holders were on either side of the cake. The young couple returned Mofiday to Ely, where they will make their home. 9 Mrs. May Patterson went to Kearns to be with her sister, Mrs. Cinda Richards, when she is released from the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cox and Mrs. Donna Morris, returned from California after visiting the past week with Mrs. Marie James in Whittier and Sam Cox and other friends in Hollywood. Mrs. Elaine Nielsen spent the week end in Salt Lake with her son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. DeLane Johnson. Spending the past week end in Las Vegas were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Bohn and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Cartwright. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Moore and three children of Ogden were in Beaver last week end visiting Mr. . and Mrs. Glen Moore and getting acquainted with their first grandchild. 9 Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Paice and Mr. and Mrs. John White and Alice mootred to Ely Sunday Sun-day to attend the christening of their granddaughter. Marvin White blessed his baby. While there the Paices visited Mr. and Mrs. Howard Paice and. the Whites visited Mr. and Mrs. Byron Limb and family. Mrs. Keith Warby and two children spent the past week in Salt Lake with her sister and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Aubra Cart-wright Cart-wright and Allen spent the week end in Las Vegas with Gaye and Shirl Eliker. Coming from Ely to attend the open house for Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Nelson on Friday were Joe Hutchings, Bob Smith, Carolyn Car-olyn Relaford, Darlene Loni, and Georgia Campbell. J. G. Miller went to Salt Lake Monday on mining business. busi-ness. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Willden iof Cortez, Cal., visited Mr. and Mrs. William Willden Tuesday and Wednesday of last week. Visitors at the John Ashworth home over the week end were Mr. and Mrs. Leon Ashworth of Ruth, Nev. Miss Ella Mae Bettis of Colorado Colo-rado and Miss Judy Carson of Sydney, Australia, were house guests of Mr. and Mrs. William Willden Monday evening. Supt. and Mrs. Dave Pearce are in Provo attending the Class B Basketball Tournament. Supt. Pearce is Region 10 representative representa-tive on the Utah High School Activities Assn. Mrs. George Bradshaw left Monday to spend a week in Sandy with her son in law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Basil Rollins. Miss Madahne Beltran acted as her sister's maid of honor. Mrs. Raymond Nelson and Mrs. Theodore Uhrig, also sisters of the bride, were bridesmaids. Attending the bridegroom as best man was Keith Tattersall. Jerry Heppler and Theodore Uhrig were ushers. Out of town guests included the bridegroom's parents and grandmother, Mrs. Caroline Smith of Beaver; Mr. Tattersall, Mr Heppler, Miss Madaline Beitran, Miss Betsy Fillmore, Miss Carmen Lemos, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Cordova, and Mr. and Mrs. Silvio Mayo, all o'f Salt The new Mrs. Smith is a graduate grad-uate of Hailey High School, where she took an active part in school affairs. She also is a graduate of the Excelsis Beauty School, Salt Lake. Mr. Smith is a graduate of Beaver High Shool, where he held the office of Student Body President. He was active in FFA, music, speech and drama. He attended the C S U for two years and was a member of the Student Council, president of the Freshman Class, and president presi-dent o'f the college debate team and active in music. For the past three years he has attended the U S U at Logan. Lo-gan. He received a fellowship fellow-ship and has been teaching in the mathematics department at the college this year. He will graduate in June with a BS degree. de-gree. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Anderson and son of Payson and Mr. and Mrs. Alan Faux o'f Ogden spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Cox and Mrs. Rebecca Re-becca Orton. The ladies are sisters of Mrs. Cox. Mrs. Orton returned to Ogden to visit for a month. Joe Warr has returned - from Ft. Ord, Calif., after six months training, and is in Salt Lake visiting his brother Newel. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Pearce and two children spent, the week end in Beaver with Mr. and Mrs. Neils Jensen and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Easton, and in Milford Mil-ford with Mr. and Mrs. Ed Lar-sen. Lar-sen. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Ash and two children of Salinas, Calif., visited vis-ited Mrs. Alex Boyter Sunday en route to their home after being in Salt Lake to attend the funeral of Mr. Ash's mother. Mrs. Ash is the former Retta Joseph, sisLer o'f Mrs. Boyter and Thurland Joseph, and this is the first time they had seen each other for seven years. Rayma Hutchings, June Bradshaw Brad-shaw and La,Verl Johnson of Salt Lake spent the week end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Boyter and Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Bradshaw. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Morris and Mr. and Mrs. Alton Marshall Mar-shall motored to Glen Canyon Dam and back Sunday. |
