There is a course correction where the race will begin, which will be near the Preserve east of the Liberty Park. We promise a much flatter, scenic, and enjoyable course. This year we are excited about the addition of a morning rodeo and afternoon team-roping events as well as all the other fun activities that come during the course of the day. Our breakfast, as always, is delicious at $7/person or $25/family. This year we are also offering a Dutch Oven Dinner with all the trimmings for $8/person or $30/family. We are also extremely excited about the current improvements and future improve- ments to the park that are being funded from a RAMP grant—come and see! Additional Names Being Sought for Huntsville Pioneer Monument It has been ten years since a Pioneer Monument honoring early settlers in the Valley was placed in the northwest corner of Huntsville Park. The life-size statue is cast in bronze and depicts an early Huntsville family. The primary way of Franz (Bud) Johansen, a Huntsville native, designed and created the statue. There have been a number of requests for the addition of names to the monument wall that is a backdrop to the statue. Rosemary Waite, who spearheaded the project, stated, “We have decided to make some more plaques that will be added to the monument. As before, the names must be of Huntsville residents who lived in the community prior to 1950. Earlier in June, IFA moved to its new store located at 1069 West 12th Street in Ogden across from the IRS building. The new store has over 40,000 square feet of retail space designed to serve its customers even more effectively. New products have and will continue to be added in the near future to compliment existing lines. In addition, a new garden center and nursery have been constructed adjoining the Country -- Notice -- UDOT Unveils New Anti-Litter Campaign Targeting Lost Cargo More than 25,000 accidents a year are caused by lost cargo on North American roads. Along the Wasatch Front there are more than 1000 instances of lost cargo every month. This leads to more than 500 serious accidents annually in Utah. These lost items also contribute to a large amount of the litter collected from Utah roads. To address the growing problem, UDOT is introducing a new public awareness campaign called LITTER HURTS. This campaign is one of first in the nation to focus on large litter items, such as ladders, couches, and mattresses. The multi-faceted campaign will include TV commercials, radio spots, billboards, point-of-purchase displays at retail stores, a Web site, and more. Watch for more information, and do your part by securing items that are being transported.
