Aspen Sky, daughter of Brandi Hammon and Les Vierra was born May 11, 2008. She weighed 8 lbs 4 oz, and was 21 inches long. Air Force Airman Willem M. Van Zeben has graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. VanZeben earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of Darla and Dan VanZeben of Eden. The airman is a 2006 graduate of Weber High School. He has subsequently completed enlisted basic aircrew undergraduate course and SERE (survival, evasion, resistance, escape) training at Fairchild AFB. He is presently stationed at the Defense Language Institute at the Presidio of Monterrey in California studying Arabic. His job assignment will be as an Airborne Crypto Linguist. They were married on May 10, 1958, in Elko, Nevada. He was raised in Huntsville and graduated from Weber High School. He joined the U.S. Army and served in the Korean War. He worked at American Can Co. for 25 years. She was raised in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High School. She worked at Grand Central Department Store for many years. They have resided in Huntsville for the past 40 years. They are the parents of five children: Nanci Olsen, Ogden; Michael Olsen, Clearfield; Wendy Pretti, Huntsville, Cindy Huntington (deceased); and Jennifer Olsen (deceased). They have Anniversaries 13 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Sacrament of Confirmation Seventeen youth from St. Florence Parish were confirmed May 24. They are Nathan Olsen, Emily Brandt, Meg Baker, Mitchell Collins, Shannon Fallon, Ariel Froerer, Kasandra and Sean Haggarty, Josh Holman, Michelle Howe, Kelesy James, Eric Lyons, Sarah Paur, Maria Rague, Meagan Truett, Sam Weil, and Michael Welch. The Confirmation Mass was celebrated by Most Reverend John C. Western, Bishop of the Diocese of Salt Lake City (which covers the entire state of Utah); along with Reverend Charles Cummins, Pastor of St. Florence Mission; Reverend Pat Boyle from Our Lady of the Holy Trinity Monastery in Huntsville; and Deacon Lee Johnson from the diocese of Salt Lake City. Confirmation is a sacrament of the Catholic Church, instituted by Christ that makes baptized persons more perfectly bound to the Church and enriched with a special strength of the Holy Spirit. In Confirmation, each confirmed is accepting responsibility for their own faith and given the graces to live their faith in wisdom, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, understanding, and fear of the Lord just as the Apostles received the gifts of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Born in Huntsville to Earl and Eliza Halls on February 1, 1930 she graduated from Morgan High School. She worked for the Internal Revenue Service for 15 years, retiring in 1988. She enjoys reading and painting.
