Show The Ogden Valley news Volume XV Issue XIII Page June 15, 2008 Announcements Weddings Kristi and Chris Sandberg Clapperton – Sandberg Kristi Clapperton and Chris Sandberg were united in marriage on Friday, May 30, at The Edgewood Reception Center in Ogden, where a reception was held in their honor that evening. The ceremony was Melissa and Robert Knowles George-Knowles Melissa Lin George and Robert Montgomery Knowles were united in marriage on May 1 in the Logan LDS Temple. Alex and Skyler Stoker Salas-Stoker Alex Salas and Skyler Stoker were united in marriage on June 6 at the home officiated by Bishop Dale Maxwell of the Huntsville 1st Ward. The bride is the daughter of Alan and Ramona Clapperton of Huntsville. The bridegroom is the son of the late Harry Sandberg, and Holly and Murray Hulse of Brigham City. The bride chose her sisters Traci Barney and Sandi Farr as her matrons of honor. Alicia Sandberg was her bridesmaid. The groom chose his brothers Jeff Sandberg and Troy Sandberg to share the duties of best man. Cody Sandberg was the ring bearer. Bryan Clapperton and Kyle Sorensen served as ushers. The bride is a graduate of Weber High School and is employed at the Internal Revenue Service. The bridegroom is a graduate of Roy High School and is employed at Lee’s Market in North Ogden. After their honeymoon to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, the couple will live in Harrisville. The ceremony was officiated by the bride’s uncle Wayne K. Stenquist. A reception was held in their honor that evening at The Hearthside, and another reception will be held on June 21 in Rogers, Arkansas. The bride is the daughter of Lloyd and Lori George of Shanghai, China. Parents of the bridegroom are David and Linda Knowles of Huntsville. The bride chose Katie Stout as her maid of honor. Amie George, Sally Knowles and Lizzy Knowles were here bridesmaids. Jay Avery performed the duties of best man. Blake Montgomery, Brad Lund, and Ryan Lund were his groomsmen. She graduated from Rogers High School in Arkansas and attended Brigham Young University. He graduated from Weber High School, served in the Brazil Ribeirao Preto LDS Mission and attends Weber State University. The new couple will live in the Ogden area. of the groom’s parents in Eden, where an outdoor reception and dance were held in their honor. Cody Charlesworth performed the duties of best man with Brady Stoker, Pay Hennessy and Jake Charlesworth as groomsmen. Performing the duties of matron of honor was Lindsay Hollis. Kasey Salas, Katrina Saenz, Shelby Stoker, and Shandi Tidwell were the bridesmaids. Flower girls were Olivia Salas and Gracee Summers. The bride is the daughter of Sonny and Glenda Salas of North Ogden. She attends Weber State University and is employed with Utah Hematology Oncology and Bellas’s. The groom is the son of Val and Susan Stoker of Eden. He is employed with Sunstate Equipment. After a honeymoon to Disneyland, the couple will make their home in North Ogden. Taylor was preceded in death by her great grandfather Keith E. Nichols. Taylor Tenille Shaw Taylor Tenille Shaw, infant daughter of Joshua Shaw and Toni Nichols Shaw, died Monday, May 19, 2008 at the Medical University of South Carolina. Taylor was born in Charleston, South Carolina. Surviving, in addition to her parents of Conway, S. Carolina, are a twin brother, Richard Opeikens Richard L. Opheikens, 70, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2008 peacefully at home surrounded by his children and grandchildren. Dick was born May 26, 1937 in Richard Opeihens Ogden, Utah to Bert and Elizabeth Haigh Opheikens. He received his education in Ogden City Schools and during summers in Ogden Valley with his brothers, cousins, and friends. After his time in the U.S. Navy, he married Pauline Ann Batchelor September 11, 1956 in Elko, Nevada. They were later divorced. After learning his trade, he started Dick’s Tile Company in 1964. He was a very hard working and talented artisan that took pride in his craft and the thousands of relationships he made over the years. Dick was an outdoorsman since childhood, and hunting and fishing were a big part of his life. A day on his boat at Bear Lake with his friends was his idea of heaven. Dick was known for his caring heart, his incredible sense of humor, his long list of good friends, and his talent for building anything. Dick is survived by his children, Ric (Joan) Opheikens, Ogden; LeAnn (Scott) Boman, Layton; Steven H. Opheikens, Clearfield; his brother Doug (Norma) Opheikens, his sisters Ruth Crouch, Paula (Henry) Day, Phyllis (Jerry) Flynn, and Kathy (Randy) Wood. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren and 5½ great grandchildren, his best friend Elaine Garner, his cousin Darrell Strebel, his Aunt Delma Rukavina, and his friends Jim (Leola) Brown and Lee (Carolyn) Pons, and many others. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Kenny and Donny, and his “Big Sis,” Betty Hill. The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Hansen and his caring staff and to the IHC Home Care and Hospice staffs. Funeral service were held Thursday, May 29, 2008 at the Larkin & Sons Mortuary, 496 24th St., Ogden, Utah. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
