Show What Hubbards Plans The recent purchases made byrMr Hub bard of Kansas city in the neighborhood i of the Utah Central depot still continue a theme for conversation among real estate agents and others I am not acquainted with Mr Hubbard said a Utah Central official yesterday and I can not say whether ho has any connection with the Union Pacific or not I is certain however that the Utah Central has no connection with the gentleman in any shape Yes I admit that the purchases made indicate a desire on the part of Mr Hubbard or the power behind him to obtain control of Iro erty near our depot but what it will housed ho-used for is a matter of conjecture I have heard nothing to that effect mind you butt but-t may be that the Union Pacific is the power that is moving Mr Hubbard If this be > so it simply means in my estimation hat Salt Lake has been selected as the terminus ter-minus of the road at least for some ycrrs to come This being so the Utah Central depot would be the natural location for its headquarters and the two or three blocks already occupied would not afford any where near like room enough for the station union depot or whatever you may like to all it Then again it may be that theso purchases are being made by some one who has obtained possession of some state secrets and who has bought with the in tendon of selling to the Union Pacific at a good fair margin Of course these are only surmises and are given merely for what they are worth In case however such a state of affairs should be brought about there is little doubt that the Utah Nevada will have its headquarters at the same depot as the Utah Central Then again it is folly to supPose sup-Pose that the Utah Northern between ocatello and Ogden will forever remain a narrowgauge Indeed the prospects of its conversion into a broadgauge are de cidedly flattering and this accomplished there will b no more transferring at Ogden but the broadgauge trains will run straight to Salt Lake Taken all in all there is a hen on in my opinion and the result will be a golden egg |
