Show RIPE FOR COMMERCE The Minnesota Statesmen Advise the General Government ST PAUL March 14In the state legislature legis-lature yesterday a resolution was introduce intro-duce by Speaker Graves relating to the foreign policy of the general government recites The preamble rectes WHEREAS The cause of patriotism is advanced by knowledge of the national flag seen all over the world that tie I ripe for the commerce of eastern nations to move westward to and through ture the United States therefore the legisla tureKesolcet That the general government should adopt a vigorous foreign policy that the United States should compete for the commerce of the world That money should be appropriated from the I treasury for the constant construction and operation oper-ation of steamship lines from New York to European Eu-ropean and South American ports also from San Francisco and Tacoma to Japan and Australia Aus-tralia trlaTat the treaty rights of the United States should be religiously preserved That there Is cause for deep solicitude in regard re-gard to the acts of the German Empire in the matter of the late Samoan affair inasmuch as the blow of the Germans seems to be aimed at the commerce of the Samoan Islands Representatives of this state in Congress are instructed to use their influence t camying out the suggestions of these resolutions |
