Show Opposition Grows To Speed-op Of Basketball Sport MILES CITY. Mont., Jan. 17 (U.B The board of control of the Montana high school association today took action to curb the speed-up of basketball resulting" from elimination of the center jump under new rules, Board Secretary Sec-retary R. H. Wollin reported. The new rule, to go into effect at once is: "Officials shall be required to handle the ball after each successful success-ful field goal." The board already had taken the matter under consideration at an annual meeting in Butte in November. No-vember. It enacted the following provisions: 1. Allowing 10 men at all divisional divis-ional and state tournaments instead in-stead of eight representing each team. 2. Adding an extra minute to the rest period between quarters. The rules are originally adopted provided additional restrictions to slow up the game or allow more rest. These include the provision for more time out for the throw out after goals, increased timeouts time-outs from three to five for each team. |
