"At Utah Power, we make it our business to supply more than just electricity to our cornmunity." j Our primary goal has always been to provide reliable energy thafs supported by a level of service our customers deserve. Thafs uby we're constantly striving to find better ways to respond to outages and emergencies. But, electricity is not the only kind of power we take pride in offering. Some of the most important energy provided by Utah Power J doesn't travel along utility poles, flow through power lines or pass through any meter. Ifs our power to make a difference something we do year-round by actively supporting programs and special events unique to our community. True, this kind of energy can't illuminate a single light bulb. But over time, it could help our entire community shine. SHUTS DOWN FROM MID OCT. - MID MAY Last year, the majority of the summer residents blocked the formation of a tax district for the fire department. Instead, they promised the formation of a voluntary lake-wide homeowers association that would fund the department. Additionally, several of the existing homeowner associations promised funds for 1996-1997. CONTRIBUTIONS FROM HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATIONS THIS YEAR - NONE TOTAL CONTRIBUTIONS THIS YEAR - $00 INFORMATION ON THE NEW HOMEOWNERS ASSCIATION THAT I HAVE - NONE It takes people, equipment, and money to have a fire department. I only have the people. Without a reliable source of money, I can't send people to be trained, I can't maintain equipment or replace obsolete inoperable equipment. We have just started the real fire season and we have already responded to two fires. One engine didn't make it to either fire because the brakes went out. A second truck went down in the middle of a fire. We now have one 1966 expeditionary airfield truck to cover the entire lake through this fire season. If this truck lasts until the end of this summer without breaking down, it will be the first time in four years it has lasted that long. If funds do not become available soon, the fire department will not be able to operate. I will not endanger volunteers by placing them in situation that we don't have the proper equipment or training for.
