Show By Marlene Haws 826-4859 Five of our Escalante High School students have just completed com-pleted a six-week course in the "Upward Bound" program in Cedar Ce-dar City. They not only studied English, Math, etc. but also visited vis-ited in Las Vegas, Nev., went river rafting, spent a week in San Diego and if you want to get the details they will be home today and you can get the scoop from them. They are Russell Brooks, Dustin Shakespear, Derek Shakespear, Jared Smith and Ja-red Ja-red Woolsey. Eric and Sheri Woolsey took their boat, Jay and Derlynne Brooks took their jet skis and they all headed to Lake Powell for a little fun in the sun. They said the sun was definitely out and hotter than blazes, but they had fun anyway! Chris Robison, son of Kevin and Tracy Robison, Ely, Nev., is here visiting with his grandparents, grandpar-ents, Theron and Dixie Mitchell. They enjoyed a fishing trip to Posey Lake last week. The Escalante reunion that is held annually in Salt Lake City, has been changed from the first week in Aug. to the second week. It will be on Sunday, Aug. 10 at the north bowery in Fairmont Park from 2 to 5 p.m. Darlene Edmiston reports that her mom, Peggy Mascarenas, her son, Mike Day and nephew, Mon-tell Mon-tell Mascarenas, all of Las Vegas, Ve-gas, Nev. came for a three-day visit. She says when her mother comes to visit, that's news! Visiting at the home of Elda Haws were her brothers, Ned and his wife Lucille, Eugene, Ore. and Elvin Barker, Salt Lake City. Fay Alvey had her daughter and son-in law here from Boise, Ida.. Sherman and Renee Bun-drant, Bun-drant, their son Steve Bundrant, daughter Fay Brownell and her daughter, Chalisa, and daughter, Fern Briceno, who lives in Ham-mett, Ham-mett, Ida. all visited with Fay. Fay said they all reverted back to childhood in remeniscing about the things they used to do when they were here and they had a ball! Norman and Ardis Christensen and Lynn and Judy Griffin went to St. George to help welcome their newest grandaughter, little Kelly Dawn Christensen, who is the daughter of Gary and Judilyn Christensen. The little girl has three brothers who were glad to get a little sister. A sculptured piece of furniture, furni-ture, crafted by David Delthony, was recently accepted for the statewide crafts and photography exhibition sponsored by the Utah Arts Council. The exhibit runs through July 31 at the Union Pacific Pa-cific Depot in Salt Lake City. David and his wife, Brigitte, bought the property jvhere Bill (See Escalante News On Page 3-A) .. . ., Escalante News From Page 2-A Vidrine's sawmill used to be. They taught the Art and Shop classes at the high school the last month of the school year. Elwood Willis, Glenwood came to visit his brother, Blaine Willis, and help to clean up around the yards again. Blaine is doing a good job at the information informa-tion booth on Main Street. He is fluent in foreign languages and that is a big asset. Larry and Verlaine Spencer, Brigham City, visited at the home of LaRue Spencer for a few days. David and Cindy Townsend brought their boat home from Lake Powell to get it ready for some more fun in the sun. Evan and Lois Reeves have moved into their new home, just north of the Lorenzo Griffin home. You should drive by just to see their cute yards. Clea Woolsey has sold her house and moved into a trailer between it and the home of Chris and Tammy Christensen. Her kids built a nice new deck on it for her. Brent, Ryan and Chad Cottam went to Phoenix, Ariz. They stayed overnight with Rick and Randie Haws then brought a load of horses home. Chad says he only get to stay long enough for a short swim! Misty, second daughter of Milan Mi-lan and Brenda Munson, B landing, land-ing, was married to Kylor Perkins in the Jordan River LDS Temple. .They will be living in Blanding also. |
