Show PARLEY TO BE HELD NOV. 16 President David 0. McKay, chairman of the Utah Centennial commission, will preside at a banquet of beautification committee com-mittee members from all sections of Utah as the climax to a day- j long conference to be held in1 Salt Lake City, Saturday, November Nov-ember 16, Jean B. Carlos, manager mana-ger of the Beautification division has announced. In addition to President McKay, Mc-Kay, the session will be high lighted by the presence of two nationally famous speakers on beautification topics. They are L. Deming Tilton, of San Francisco, Fran-cisco, a planning consultant; and Carl Feiss, of Denver, zoning and 1 beautification expert. The chairman of all state, county and community beautification beautifi-cation committees will be guests of the beautification divison at an opening breakfast at 8:30. Registration for all attending the conference will take place from 9 to 10 a.m., with a general gener-al meeting of all beautification workers at 10 a.m. Speakers at the general session, which will be presided over by Donald P. Lloyd, chairman of the beautification beauti-fication division, will be Gordon Weggeland, public relations and publicity chairman; John D. Rice, clean-up, paint-up and fix- up chairman; A. B. Paulson, state parks chairman; George H. Smeath, landscaping chairman; chair-man; and Raymond J. Ashton, planning and zoning chairman. At the session will be shown the Utah beautification film "We Who Follow" and an instructive in-structive lecture will be given by the San Francisco consultant, Mr. Tilton. Mr. Carlos will summarize the session. Gus P. Backman, centennial director, will be the principal speaker at a luncheon meeting, at which Mr. Lloyd will preside. He will outline the complete centennial program. Subcommittee members, in the five divisions of beautification organization work, will hold separate meetings during the afternoon. President McKay will be chairman of the banquet for all members to be held during the evening. The guest speaker will be Mr. Feiss. A special program pro-gram of entertainment has been arranged by Mr. Carlos. |
