Lion Allen Terry and his committee com-mittee on citizenship and patriotism patri-otism deserve a big hand for the swell job they turned in during the election. The numerous cards that were placed all around Holladay and the loud speaker equipment went a long way to "get out the vote." Congratulations Con-gratulations fellow Lions! The following Lions celebrate their birthdays this month. We send our heartiest congratulations congratula-tions to: Wayne Shaw, Nov. 4: Don Archer, Ar-cher, Nov. 8; Roy Hobbs, Nov. 14; George Ault, Nov. 15; Mel Boley, Nov. 18; Heleman Hintze, Nov. 21; Paul Manwaring, Nov. 22; and Harold Drage, Nov. 24. Oct. 31, 1946 What, a night, what fun, what music, what prizes! Yes, Lions and Lionesses Lioness-es if you were not out to the annual Holladay Lions fall festival, fes-tival, you sure missed it. The committee under the direction of Chairman Lion Norm Berndt really put on a swell party for us. I want to compliment Lion Norm, President Arch, Lions Harold, Carl, Kay, Bob. Roy and all other Lions that helped to make this party the howling success that it was. The boys really had taken care of everything. every-thing. Lion Curt Ackerman of the Salt Lake Lions club and his orchestra really was in fine shape for the evening festivities. festiv-ities. The hall was decorated in the Hallowe'en spirit and the gay hats and noise makers that were passed out to each one in attendance at-tendance helped to make it a gala evening. Lion Bob Tre-geagle Tre-geagle was in charge of arranging arrang-ing for attendance .prizes and this committee really had 'em there. It seemed to me that they were drawing out winning numbers all night long except that they never found my number. These prizes were really real-ly worth while and the merchants mer-chants of Holladay are deserving of our support to show our appreciation ap-preciation for the way they supported sup-ported us. The quilt, and I do mean quilt, that the ladies' auxiliary aux-iliary made for the Lions club to raffle was sure a beautiful piece of merchandise. The ladies deserve a big hand for their help in assisting to make the evening a complete success. If space permitted I would like to have mentioned every merchant that sponsored a prize. Thanks again. While I am on the subject of Hallowe'en I would like to pay my respects to the boj's and girls of Holladay for the wonderful wonder-ful spirit of fun and gaiety that prevailed all evening. All of the kids seemed to be having the time oi tneir ntue lives ana at this waiting I haven't heard of one single incident of damage being done anywhere in -Holladay. Just one thing that I noticed no-ticed that should be mentioned. On the corner of Russel and 48th South Streets the water company com-pany had left a trench open. It was well lighted with warning lamps when we left for the dance. The comment was made that when we returned they would be gone. When we drove by at 12:30 they were still burning burn-ing and they were still there when I left for work the next morning. This fine regard for property .the the children displayed dis-played is certainly worthy of commendation. Thanks, kids, for showing us that you are real citizens. i Lion Bob Tregeagle is in the L.D.S. hospital recovering from an operation. Information to this reporter informs us that all went well and that Lion Bob will be back with us in the very near future.- Pres. Arch Aldous asks that I reepat in this column the fact that our business meeting will be held on the third Thurs-dy Thurs-dy of November so that it does not conflict with Thanksgiving. It would be a very fine thing to have our December meetings on the first and third Thursdays, also, if it meets with the approval ap-proval of the board of directors. This change would prevent a conflict with Christmas. At our regular business meeting meet-ing to be held on the third Thursday arrangements have been made to have Mr. Newell W. Prickett, R.S. of the Utah state department of public health, come out and discuss the problem of sewage disposal with the club. In view of the fact that this problem is one of the projects started by the Holladay Lions club some few years ago, it would be a fine thing to have |
