'- : Archbishop George Montgomery was born in Davis county, Kentucky, Dec. GO, 1847. He was or- dained iiu Baltimore by Cardinal Gibbons on Dec. 20. 1879;. and was consecrated bishop and coadjutor coad-jutor to Monterey arid Los Angeles by Archbishop Riordan in St. Mary's cathedral, San Francisco, on April 8. 1S04. On June 10, 18!K!. Bishop. Montgomery Montgom-ery succeeded Bishop Mora at Los Angeles, where he remained for seven years, and in October of 1903 was transferred to San Francisco as coadjutor to Archbishop Riordan. Among other societies and organizations founded found-ed by Archbishop Montgomery is the League of tin-Cross tin-Cross Cadets. ' |
