Show Garland - Tremon ton Defeat Collegians, 4-1 to Take Lead Anyway you take it, it was a banged-up ball game. Errors were conspicuous by their absence and Don Smith speed, tall hurler, let the local batters down with a measly 4 bingles and one run that was made possible by an error. As if his brilliant hurling wasn't ' enough, he drove a long , single into center in the 6th to score two more points. And puts the game on ice and incidentally it was his blow that spelled finish fori Merle Ewing who was either off or else the opposing hurlers were on for, some how he couldn't could-n't seem to get going. He was nicked for 10 bangles and 4 runs before he was relieved by Eddie Perns. Eddie did a swell job, and was really pitching after he got started. start-ed. He did nit a batter but once the old wing got working the visiting .team didn't have a chance. In the final frame with two men on and none out he bane down and retired three men in order. Anderson was the big gun for the Garland- Tremonton outfit with three hits out of four times up. Bowcutt was next with two out of four. To the losers Drys-dale Drys-dale was the hero. Banging out a fcjiple in the first score The fielding was brilliant with just three errors in the whole ball game. There were enough sensational sensa-tional catches and scooping of grounders to keep the small crowd on. their toes. Carl Nyman robbed a Garland man of a three-bagger by taking his fly ninning with the ball. Garrett made some great plays at short. All in all it was a great game with the visitors having hav-ing a definite edge In both pitching pitch-ing and hitting. |
