Show STREAMS FAST CLEARING IN CACHE COUNTY Fishing Season Opens Sunday, Sun-day, May 29 Dams to be Scene of Greatest Activity. Pishing season for Utah fishermen fish-ermen opens next Sunday, May 29 at 4 a. m., according to proclamation pro-clamation by Commissioner Newell New-ell Cook, and hundreds will take advantage of the opening to try out their fly rods and cane poles. While the waters are clearing rapidly, they are still pretty high and the bulk of the fishing in Cache county wtl be confined to bait fishing. The two dams in Logan canyon and the two dams in Blacksmith Fork canyons as well as the Hy-rum Hy-rum dam, will likely attract the bulk of the Cache county fishermen, fisher-men, although there will be a large number try their luck in East canyon, Blacksmith Fork, Logan Lo-gan river, Summit creek and High creek. The greatest catches last season sea-son were made on the opening dates immediately west of the Hyrum Dam. The large spawners came up to the spilling basin for the dam and could get no farther. farth-er. Here a slaughter of big game fish was made. This season the spilling basin has been closed to fishing. Game officials have seined sein-ed the basin and the bulk of the spawners have been taken to the hatcheries in other parts of the state. The bait to be used will be flies angleworms, nightcrawlers and the natural fish feed found on the twigs and rocks. Logan dealers deal-ers in fishing tackle have stocked up heavily in anticipation of a good business for the opening of the season. |
