Show 1 Rcby Valley. From a gentleman just in from Ruby Va.ley, wo learn chat the grain crop is looking weil, and the farmers are confident that they will not only harvest a large crop of grain but also potatoes and other vegetables. This valley is about 100 miles in length by 20 in width, and the farming land lies on the western side of the lake shore, extending to the base of the mountains. Lake Franklin is 15 miles in length and about six miles in width, and is noted for its being a great resort for water f owls of every description. Boat loads of epgs of every kind are carried away from the numerous islands by the settlers and Indians. It is a singular fact that this lake has no outlet Hen ry Griswold, one of the earliest settlers of the valley, owns a fine sailing craft, in which parties frequently go out on pleasure excursions. No section in the country presents a finer field for hunting as well as affording many great natural curiosities. Ruby cave is situated sit-uated in the southern portion of the valley, and is well worth visiting It was first explored by W. G.'Seamands, when in the Government employ at Camp Kuby, in I560. He had a small boat constructed, and on entering the cave found it to open out, and the water to be from eight to 40 feet deep and extending about half a mile into the mountain, where Cave creek finds . its source from a large spring.
