Show j 'An Editor's Wishes. I (Dr. Estrella in El Tiempo Catolico.) I As soup was once distributed to the j r poor at the convents in Spain, so would I I now like to see Catholic periodicals I! -riven out at the doors of our churches. I would like to see testators of the faith leave pious legacies for the diffu- I it-ion of Catholic papers, f I would like to see that in all stores, I j shops and other places of business one ! could get one's Catholic publication iJust as one get's one's bread, meat, :milk and other papers. I would like to see in every account I book the item, "Subscription to a Cath- , i!ic papers." I would like to se my brethren of the faith penetrated, with this truth our great enemy is the evil press. ,' I would like to have pockets filled t with Catholic leaflets to be given out t on the streets, on visits, in the J churches, in the market, in the schools, j In all places. X I would like to know that no poor i man can utter the complaint, I don't ,read a Catholic paper because I haven't i the money with which to buy one. I I would like all my popularity, all .my commendation, all my credentials, ;os I walk along the street, to consist of the words, "Look, there goes a Catli- i f olic newspaperman." ! I would like, when I am asleep In . the bosom of the earth that the hands of my associates in the Apostolate of j Prayer would engrave on the foot of ;. ' i the cross guarding my fleeting abode, i ;this inscription: "Awaiting the charity ! " : : f praj'er, here lies our former presi dent, who was a Catholic newspaper-; newspaper-; man." . - , , |
