Show SAUNA CANYON COAL ROAD SURVEY Provo, Dec. 1. The Central Utah Railroad company, organized here to build a railroad from Salina east through Salina canyon to the coal fields for a distance of about twenty miles, has surveyors in the field - for preliminary surveys from which the most feasible grade will be selected. The company purposes to begin construction con-struction work as soon after the route is selected as possible, and expects ex-pects to have the work well under way this winter. The railroad company, com-pany, being composed of men connected con-nected with the Wasatch Construction Construc-tion company, has the advantage of having a construction force ready to take up the work whenever the time is opportune. President W. O. Creer of the railroad rail-road companv who holds practically all of the stock, states that the road is being built to the coal fields to secure se-cure a part of the big coal traffic that is bound to be developed by the shipment of coal to southern California Calif-ornia from the large coal fields which are being opened in Sevier and Emery county. He believes the fields is large enough for two reads, and one recently organized by Salt Lake and Ogden capita'ists and his own road. He says that none of his company owns any coal lands there. The Knight interests own several thousands of acres of coal lands in the new field, which will bede velop-ed velop-ed by the presentowners or through consolidation with other properties after the railroads reach the field. But Mr. Knight disclaims any financial finan-cial interests in either the Central or the Salt Lake corporation's road The Knights and Mr. Creer are however how-ever associated in other business en-! en-! terprises and construction compan-: compan-: ies, and if the Knights open their coal mines the Central will without any doubt, be available for trans oorting the coal to the Denver & Rio Grande at Salina for shipment I to the coast. |
