Congressmen Settle Down to the Grind of the Regular Long Session Ses-sion Which is Expected to Last Well Into Next Summer. Washington. Congress on Decem-oer Decem-oer 1 closed -the extraordinary session ses-sion which began April 7 and settled down to the grind of the regular "long" sesison, expected to last well into next summer. Only the necessary neces-sary formality marked the ending of the old session and the beginning of the new. The senate was at work practically practical-ly all day and shortly after the regular reg-ular session had been opened began consideration of the bill to grant San Francisco water supply rights in the . Hetch-Hetchy valley. ' An attempt to institute the proposed pro-posed drastic program of day and pight sessions for the consideration of the administration currency bill failed, the Democrats agreeing to allow al-low final settlement of the program to go over to give . the .Republicans time to consider it. The currency bill, as completed by the Democratic conference, was printed print-ed and prepared lor the senate Mon-jday Mon-jday and Senator Owen presented it as a substitute for the bill originally supported by himself and the administration admin-istration Democrats on the banking iand currency committee. |
