Jorgensen of 523 Dougles Street has recently return-ned return-ned from a tour through the Eastern East-ern United States. Mrs. Jorgensen, a member of the L.D.S. Bonneville Stake and several laciy friends who are also members of the Bonneville Stake, took the historic bus tour of all the famous towns and historical places that are so much a part of the early history of our United States. The tour left Salt Lake City on the 20th of July and stopped the first night in Scenic Glenwood Springs, Colorado. They visited Phillipsburg, Kansas, Kansas City, Missouri and saw the many tourist attractions which this city offers. (Continued on Tage 9) (Continued from Fage 4) They visited Louisville Kentucky, Ken-tucky, then on to Richmond, Virginia. Vir-ginia. While there the tour went to the Virginia State Capitol Bldg the ' Governors Mansion, the John Marshall Mar-shall home and visited the White House of the Confederate States. They later viewed the St. Johns Church where Patrick Henry spoke the immortal lines which were so much a part of Americas effort to gain independence, "Give me liberty, or give me death". This year the cities of Jamestown James-town Yorkstown and Williamsburg Williams-burg are celebrating the "Jamestown "James-town Festival" which commemor ates the three hundred and and fiftieth anniversary of the beginning of America. Mrs. Jorg-ensen Jorg-ensen and her friends viewed and were able to participate in the celebration. From New York City they went to Palmyra and the Hill Cumorah. They arrived in time to witness the stirring pageant. They also visited the Sacred Grove and the Joseph Smith Home. They then visited the famed Niagara Falls, then to Chicago and from Nebraska Neb-raska they followed the old Pioneer Trail back to Salt Lake City and home. |
