Show SOUTH EAST INDEPENDENT Sugar House, Utah Thursday, August 29. 1957 rage L Life With Lynne Hiya!! The other night about 35 kids Jr. Gleaners and Jr. M-m- en met at the home of Max Thornton for a rip-roari- ng swimming party. The pool was so beautiful and In such a beautiful setting. It was just like that song "Lets Go For A Moonlight Swim". Joanne Doyle was doing some pretty good swan dives and Sarah Soderborg! was just kind of slurping into the pool every time she dived. After getting water logged we had a real good dinner of barbecued hamburgers, potato salad, corn on the cob and punch. We finish-ed it off with some ice cream. Then the dance in the moonlight. The very same night Valley View 6th Ward had a big fund raising dinner at the home of Sydney M. Horman. It was just like having Thanksgiving in Aug-ust instead of November. They served turkey, potato salad, relish, rolls, and pie ala-mod- e. My sister and her girl friend slept to-gath- er that night and I surely heard some groaning during the night. Have you ever tried to eat with chopsticks? Well I have. I wont say it's fun because 1 didn't think it was . I thought I'd starve. The other day when Auralia Rich-ards, a lady who stayed in Japan two years, gave a talk on their customs, superstitions and co-untry. She was dressed in i kimono, had flowers in her hair and some cute slippers on her feet. She showed us how to arrange flowers in the Japanese way, it's very simple but really artistic. It was fun watching everybody try to eat with chopsticks. First I "tried doing it the right way, but I was starving between mouth-ful- s. Then I tried doing it by pushing my food on the chop-sticks with a cucumber slice, but that was kind of obvious. I finally gave up and decided to eat with chopsticks the best way I knew how. All the people were kneeling on the floor like the Japanese do with their shoes off. Some of the people were dressed like the Japanese dress and they really looked very Oriental. It was fun to hear them sing "Love At Home" in Japanese. (I should say try to sing.) - Bye now, Lynne. A WEEKLY FEATURE OF THE SOUTHEAST THEATRE IN SUGARHOUSE (the tweetest poi in town) VJ Disney's Delightful "Bambi" Returns lr 1 Sty TNl iAlfc Filled with enchantment and featuring some of the merriest cartoon characters ever to come out of the Disney studio, "Bambi", returns to the screen, bringing with it all its original magic, drama and spectacular scenes. The hero is a forest deer named Bambi. From the time of his birth, he is squired by a forthright Cottontail, Thumper, a self appoin-ted educational bureau. Thumper chaperons Bambi's growth, teaches him in such technicalities as building a good working vocab-ulary. In the course of their act-iviti- es they bump into Flower, a wistful skunk, and all goes well until predatory Man and a con-flagration interrupt the forest idyll. A wonderful host of new animals are ranging in per-sonality from the matronly Quail to the bluster voiced Owl. The latter is the one sane voice in a fonest gone .wild with spring romance. Faline, a lovely doe, att-racts the now maturing Bambi; his friends Thumper and Flower are unblushingly captured, re-spectively by a lady rabbit loaded with allure and a shy but deter-mined femme-skun- k. Although the three pals do not lose sight of one another, their paths diverge and it is only when disaster strikes that they are re-unit- It begins a 5 day run on Tues-day September 10th. c Jerry's the Funniest Yet In Riotous Laugh Rumble "The Delicate Delinquent" Heralded as Jerry Lewis' funni-est picture to date, "The Delicate Delinquent," with Jerry in the title role.arrives next Wed. at the South East Theatre. Based on an original idea of Jerry's the story is said to be a perfect vehicle for the unique talent that has made Jerry a top comedian in the entertainment world. Jampacked with humor and heart appeal, as well, "The Deli-cate Delinquent" has Jerry por-traying a clumsy assistant janitor in a slum-ridde- n neighborhood. Un-wittingly he becomes involved with the leather-jack- et mob who inhabit the area. When Jerry's mistaken for one of the gang, and arrested along with them, the kindly cop on the beat, Darren McGavin, believes Jerry is worth saving from a life of delinquency. Throughout the picture, there's at least one who thinks Jerry does everything right. She's his cute little neighbor, screen newcomer, Mary Webster. Co-star-red with Jerry as "The Delicate Delin-quent," in addition tto Darren McGavin. is Martha Hyer, while Richard Ivers and Horace Mc-Mah- on head the featured cast. Fall Movie "Hits" Due Soon!!
