Show Squire Home Attracts Much Attention Attracting much attention in La-Verkin La-Verkin is the unusual trim around the fireplace in the home of Patrolman Pa-trolman and Mrs. Lorin D. Squire. Making the collection of unusual un-usual rocks his hobby, Mr. Squire has built 108 geodes, pieces of petrified wood, and specimens of agate and onyx into the broad trim of the fireplace and across the facing of the book cupboards that fill the balance of the space in the one end of the 12 by 12 livingroom. Every color of the rainbow and many tones of heavier heav-ier colors not found in the rainbow rain-bow ribbon are to be found in this artistic decoration. Interesting Interest-ing also, is the fact that most of these specimens were collected in Kane and Washington counties. Set up in western alabaster plaster, the artistic effect is unusual. un-usual. Entered in a rock hobbyist's contest this fireplace drew one of the prizes and the idea is drawing many visitors to the Squire home each week since the house was completed early in December. De-cember. Mr. and Mrs. Squire and six of their seven sons take pride in the new home and in this distinctive feature, which has been their own work. The eldest son, DeLance Squire is absent on a mission. |
