FLOYD LARSON WINS TAYLOR PIANO MEDAL Last Year's Pardoe Wind Instrument In-strument Winner Captures Taylor Piano Contest. Floyd Larson, a student of Prof. Elmer E. Nelson, won the Lester Taylor piano contest at the Young ; university Monday evening. There were five contestants, all students of the Young university music department. de-partment. Mr. Larson won the Pardoe wind instrument contest a year ago, play-ing play-ing a saxaphone. Other contestants in the piano contest were Thera Lou Olsen, Helen Watson, Beryl Jackson and Lucile Olsen. Each, contestant plnyed "The Minuet" by Puderwski and one selection of their own choice. A varied and interesting program of the following numbers was given: "Prologue to Pagoaccio," Leonca-vallo-Barnby ; "Punchinello," Rachmaninoff Rach-maninoff ; "Rondo Capriccioso," Mendelssohn : "Shepherd's Hey," Grainger; "Senate Pathiqiie," first movement, Bethoven. The judges were Mrs. Alene Cluff Simons, Miss Gertrude Olsen and Mrs. Florence Newell Nelson. !
