Show COUGARS READYTO INVADE 1 COLORADO SPRINGS FOR 1925 CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP Arrangements are already under way for a meeting between the Cougars and the Colorado Tigers at Colorado Springs on Monday, Tuesday Tues-day and Wednesday nights of next week. Ralph Keeler, graduate manager of the Cougars, the champions of Utah for 1925, received n telegram from Coach Telfer Mead naming those days upon which he would prefer the meeting. This will meet the approval of the Cougars, for they were anxious to get the winter quarter examinations behind them before going to Colorado. The examinations ex-aminations will be over Friday of this week after which the basketball men may leave for Colorado without with-out difficulty. The squad that will make the trip has not yet been named. On account of the great expense entailed, en-tailed, however, Coach Twitchell Is likely to cut the men to the limit. It is interesting to note that the two teams that battled for the championship last year, will tangle again this year. This year, however, how-ever, the championship is to be official offi-cial and announced as such by the conference. Where as the Tigers had the disadvantage dis-advantage last year by having to piny the games on the B. Y. U. floor with Utah officials, the Cougars will be put to the disadvantage disad-vantage this year. . Colorado is playing a slightly different brand of ball. The officials will officiate just a little differently. If the Cougars perform under such conditions condi-tions as temperamentally as they have done in Utah this year, there will be little hope of their bringing back a championship. If the team, however, ,can be trained to play ball and to forget the officiating it will likely bring home the bacon. There are still a few people who believe that when the Cougars are actually playing at their top stride that they are the best team In the whole country. The miserable showings they have made In a few contests when they believed that the referceiug was faulty are to be deplored. They indicate in-dicate that the team does not play that steady brand of ball that makes a coach feel confident that every start is to be a creditable exhibition. ex-hibition. The team is In good condition and will be ready to beard the Tigers In their own den by next week. Every eye in four states will be upon the contest by wireless. |
