Show JA" EXTRA SESSIOX. The Kentucky Legislature Called Together To-gether Soon After Adjournment. Frankfort, Ky., Aug. 25. Although it is little more than a week since the legislature adjourned the body convened in special extra session today in accordance with the proclamation procla-mation issued by Governor Brown. The necessities which, in the opinion of the governor, gov-ernor, exist for this somewhat extraordinary proceedings, are the questioned validity of the new election-law, -the revenue law, the World's fair appropriation bill and other important im-portant measures passed at the last session. It is claimed by eminent authorities that all these bills were passed in an unconstitutional manner, and high legal authority has rendered ren-dered an opinion that the invalidity of the election law would probably result in the throwing out of .the eleotoral vote of the state in the coming, presidential election. Rather than take any risks of this kind the governor decided upon the special session. The legislature and the governor are at loggerheads log-gerheads and it le not unlikely that the ses-sion ses-sion will lat until the regular day for reconvening recon-vening in November. This, with the following fol-lowing session, would make the longest continuous con-tinuous session ever held in the state. . a . |
