Show Thursday, November 7B THE GREEN SHEET 1, 1984 Bacchus Giving Library Activity Birthday Boost KEARNS. Next week marks the third anniversary of the library and Bacchus elementary, where students and parents are being invited to a celebration. ' The library has been decorated with streamers and balloons and, forming a centerpiece, is a large, decorated box. As students make regular visits to the library during the week, they will be invited to drop any contribution they desire into the gift box, explained PTA chairman Janice Tingey. The money will go to purchase new books and materials for the library. We have almost 600 students in our school, and as we are presently sharing our facilities with the Jim Bridger school, the available books are really being used. If each of our students checked out two books, there would be none left, she said. The school librarian will discuss libraries, books and the importance of reading with children as they visit and refreshments will be served each day, said Mrs. Tingey. Parents are also being invited to visit the library and become familiar with the resources available to their children. We are hoping this celebration and effort will add subMrs. stantially to our library, Tingey concluded. fund-raisin- g Direct Donations Sought By Kearns JHS PTS A PTSA KEARNS. officers at Kearns junior high are encouraging parents and students to join in a direct donation project as a means of raising funds. The PTSA has decided the best way to get funds is through direct donation rather than a project, a PTSA spokesman said. The advantages of direct donations are, 100 percent profit goes to the PTSA, all donations are tax deductible and there is no loss of time to students and teachers. The PTSA must earn $3,600 from the direct donations, which means $5 per family or $2 per student. If the goal is met, we will have no other If not, it will be necesshe sary to have a said. The PTSA will have a booth at the schools Renaissance Fair, which will be held from 1:30 to 3:30 tomorrow (Friday) as a final effort to collect funds. Funds from the fair will go directly to the various departments participating, not to the PTA, she noted. fund-raisin- g GEORGE G.
