Show Page 4 The Ogden Valley news Volume XIV Issue XVI June 1, 2007 Teen Anime Festival The library will host an Anime film festival beginning Thursday, June 28 at 6:00 p.m. with the movie Spirited Away (PG). Come back every Thursday for five weeks for these additional movies: Steamboy (PG 13), Princess Mononoke (PG 13), Howl’s Moving Castle (PG), and Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (PG). Food and drink will be included with the movies. No registration required. Call 745-2220 for more information. Coming Attractions @ Your Library The Ogden Valley Branch Library will be celebrating the cinema this summer with a FREE Family Film Festival that will run June 8 until July 27. The festival will take place every Friday morning at 11:30 a.m., and will consist of a of series movies that patrons of all ages can enjoy. So eat, drink, and be entertained! All of the movies will be screened in the community room, and will feature light refreshments. Calling All Artists for Statewide Competition The Eccles Community Art Center in Ogden is announcing a call for entry for its 33rd Annual Statewide Competition. This competition is open to all artists who presently reside in the state of Utah. Original work in any medium, including paintings, prints, monoprints, drawings, graphics, pottery, sculptures, and textiles are eligible. Photographs are not eligible. A statewide photographic competition was held in February. Works must have been completed within the past two years and not previously exhibited in a juried exhibit sponsored by the Eccles Community Art Center. Artists are limited to a total of two entries. Entry fees are $8 per entry. Entry fees are used for prize money and publicity and are not refundable. Entries must be clearly identified by the artist with title, medium, and price/insurance value. Identification tags and result cards are provided to the artist at the time of entry. Original works will be accepted on Friday June 22, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and on Saturday, June 23, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Eccles Community Art Center at 2580 Jefferson Avenue, Ogden. Work will not be accepted after 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 23, 2007 This is a juried competition. Works accepted by the jurors will be exhibited and awards will be presented. The Eccles Community Art Center will present monetary including first, second, third and a purchase award. The Eccles Community Art Center Board of Directors determines the purchase award. Works purchased become a part of the Art Center’s permanent collection. A reception for artists, friends, and the community will be held on Friday, July 6, 2007 from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Eccles Community Art Center. The awards will be announced at this reception. The competition exhibit will be on display July 6 through August 30, 2007. Regular gallery hours are weekdays 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The gallery is closed Sundays and major holidays including Independence and Statehood Days.
