Viewmont's ;cey team got of f to a good fct this year and it looks (1 we're going to finish on fSs We've only lost one son game to East, but I mont gets a chance to r I defeat the Leopards on Feb. 19. STUDENTBODY support has really helped. There was really a lot of enthusiasm at the game against Bountiful. Four hundred fifty students strong yelling our team onto victory. Oh by the way we won 8-0, not too bad. There are just a few more games left this season. Skyline is next in line on the chopping block, then comes Las Vegas and Idaho Falls. ONCE again Viewmont has the chance to show Viking superiority over the Braves on Feb. 5, as if they haven't already. Then it's on to Highland on . Feb. 11. Viewmont looks like a promising team for the playoffs to be held in February and then on to state championship. Look out you foolish contenders because here we come. m AW YES but the wrestlers now know where it's at. The Viking wrestlers attended (attended that's a funny name for hammered) the Weber Invitational and once again the Vikings proved the dominance as we took a first place in the meet, beating out our nearest competitor Box Elder, by an unspeakable margin. Dave Millward, Dave Gilespie and Jerry Yazzie all took individual first places and Mr. Millward received the tournaments outstanding wrestler. Kime Boren, Evan Call, Kent Forsey and Mark Anderson all took third places and Grant Burningham took fourth. WE WRESTLE Bountiful this Thursday. We wish the Braves good luck as they need ' all they can get. (That probably proba-bly won't even help knowing how great the Vikings are) . Now for the lighter side of life. Last Thursday the Viewmont View-mont Madrigals went to the KUED television studios on the University of Utah campus cam-pus to tape a show for the television production. THEY WERE asked to sing a few songs as one of the outstanding out-standing groups in Utah. The tapes will be shown on station KUED on March 30 at 11:50 a.m. and March 31 at 11:20 a.m. and then again on April 5 at 10:20 a.m. and on April 6 at 10:15 and 2:50 p.m. After taping the shows the Viewmont Madrigals were asked to sing for one of Dr. Ramsey's classes, a music professor at the University of Utah. Quite an honor for our madrigals. Congratulations to all the fantastic members. AS FOR the radio and T.V. crew, well their studio is near, completion now and they are moving into full production. The University of Utah competition is not far off and we have a first place to defend from last year as Viewmont's productions were the best in the state. So once again Viewmont High is number one. We could fill this whole paper of great things the Vikings are doing, like the forensic field, debate, legislative forum and others. The Viking debate team with two top four finishes and numbers of outstanding personal per-sonal performances is doing the best in Viewmont's history. THE DRAMA Dept. is preparing their production of "Student Prince," which should be the greatest as usual, not to mention the sophomore basketball team's outstanding performance and the Viking band is preparing to go to Canada this summer. The list goes on forever and ever and you know why? Because Viewmont is led by some of the greatest people in the world and it's easy to be great when you work with such great people. So once again Viewmont City is the greatest and with no doubt always will be. HAVE A good one. |
