Twenty schools from the northern part of the state participated. Bountiful students who excelled ex-celled included the following': Sue McBride and Dedn Pin-cock, Pin-cock, first place in Oxford debate; Wayne Gelder, third place in oratory; Gary Goodrich, second in impromptu speaking; Noel Bountiful High School has another large trophy to add to its trophy case, as students won the sweepstakes award last weekend at the Golden Spike Invitational Speech and Debate Tournament. Some of the students involved are holding trophies. Stahle, fourth place in extemporaneous ex-temporaneous speaking; Rhett Mitchell, outstanding chairman award in legislative forum. DEBBIE McCall was also a finalist in impromptu speaking and Barry McKay and Kyle McKay were finalists in oratory. A number of Bountiful students were semi-finalists including: Mark Bettilyon and Brian Garrett, debate; Dennis Gilsdorf and Karen Stringfellow, oratory; Steve Benard and Robin Quinn in extemporaneous speaking. Brad Johnson was also rated superior jn legislative forum. THIS IS the third year straight that Bountiful students have been named sweepstakes winners at the Golden Spike Tournament. Speech teachers at the high school are Kim Burningham and Brian Bowles. Other Bountiful students contributing to the sweepstakes sweeps-takes total included Allen Haynie, Brandon Thacker, Mike Jacox, Paul Drake, Andria Holbrook, Ann Livin-good, Livin-good, Curtis Anderson. ALSO David Hartvigsen, Greg Bailey, Charlene Oborn, Michael Van, Leslie Haacke, Mindy Welch, Don Crowther, Christy Heath, Paul Lawrence, Shelley Hill, Steve Wetherall, Sydnie Christen-sen Christen-sen and Scott Murray. |
