Show N NE NEWS E w S st TH T H E agen A p effs t S corner P C corner bounty bounty ditda edited dit db by lamont E county agent mr fr W V W owens assistant director for or agriculture who is at present trav eUng in th the 0 court courll les eg of 0 the state to help with the final organization of 0 wheat production product io i CO control associations spent friday september 22 in iron county bolling hilj meetings and contacting wasal cheat proc irs in III the follo following wink communities ti es Ka narra cedar city summit parowan and paragonah Para gonah three meetings with farmers were lipid while mr owens was herp here at these meetings it was decided that the number of producers expressing in teli trillion tion to cooperate on oil the wheat allotment plan were so few that a wheat production control association organization would not be justified in each of the various communities muni ties accordingly a decision was reached by the growers to have one county organization tor for all who wish to cooperate and thus eliminate the community organizations legal notice ot of a county ration meeting was was posted on friday september 22 the county organization Paniza tion meeting will be held at 8 p m september 29 at the county court house at parowan carowan Pa rowan all wheat growers who have signed application blanks are eligible to vote for ehte permanent mir manent organization cirs rs it Is therefore important that as many cooperators as possible be present at this organization meeting the unusual frost tree free weather of late summer and early tall fall has created an unexpected problem tor for potato growers of the county has remained green and thrifty the tremendous leat leaf surface of the foliage has resulted in tremendous quantities ouan of water being used as transpiration of moisture through the leaves has been greatly increased by oy the dry warm winds which havo have prevailed making it extremely difficult to keep a uniform moisture supply in the soil tor for the proper development of tubers the potato fields however are generally speaking promising yields eual to those Proa produced during the past three years price prospects prospect fortunately tuna tely are much better than they have been tor for a number of which gives growers just cause tor for encouragement the following five club members jay 11 alter nian howard audrey fife utahna retty and ami reth r eth sargent who represented iron county at the state 4 1 H club achievement ie program which was held in lo 10 bosau losau au IS 19 and oil succeeded in III capturing their share 0 the laurels jay halterman and howard hovard nelson 4 1 II 11 crop judging team placed first in the state crop judging contest jay was first place winner v and howard won third place as individual judges audrey rite fife and ami utahna petty who constituted I loth oth demonstration and a judging gilg team in girls girl s 4 1 1 H 1 cl club u b work no r k su succeeded c clee dedin ln in winning ln ni n g f fars lr s ci p place 1 a ce 1 in n the team judging contest and alisa petty won second place as an individual judge five medals were won by these tour four iron county representatives senta tires tives beth belli sargent who the county 4 11 club girls as a a health contestant scored up among the very best of 0 the reprise representatives 11 tat ives out ot of a possible thousand points the four examining doctors samel beth belli points howard nelbon who entered the health contest a the boy representative frota from this county county also scored among the best la in the meet two paragonah Para gonah nall boys fred and gerald edwards who won first and second place in the county sent their corn e exhibits hl to logan and won first and second places respectively in the state meet they will receive cash prizes the clothing and foods exhibits front from iron county reached logan too late tor for the judging due to a late change which became necessary in the judging date the judging of 0 the foods and clothing exhibits was done on friday september 15 the last day ot of our county ech exhibit abit however exhibits were taken to logan and displayed with much credit to the club work of the county tile the splendid showing made by the iron county clubs in their second year ot of club activity indicates the splendid quality dt af the 4 11 il II club leaders and members and the fine in I 1 interest which has been taken in I 1 t this is educational activity PT the times a year |
