Mr. and Mrs. Earl Jackson have just returned from a brief vacation trip into the Beaer mountains. Mr. A. F. MoCulley, the hustling merchant, spent several days this week, in Salt Lake, on a business mission. The Jefferson Mercantile Company has purchased a new Ford auto delivery de-livery truck for use in its growing business. I N. B. Neilson, the bustling Ford Agent of Beaver, was in Milford on Monday, receiving a carload of new Ford cars. R. H. Barton, cashier of the First National Bank of Beaver, is being talked of by his friends, as a candidate for State Treasurer. Mr. and Mrs. Dan Vincent are rejoicing re-joicing over the arrival of a nine pound baby girl, which happy event took place last Sunday, The Milford Leather Goods Company has taken on an expert shoemaker and repairer, Peter Klim, late of Los Angeles, California. Mrs. W. W. Murray has returned from the "U" Summer School, where she has been spending a portion of her vacation. Julius Smith returned Monday from Delta, after a day or two of fishing, bringing with him some fine black bass. Mrs. Adamo of Parowan, sister of Mrs. J.S.Hanks, has been visiting the latter for sometime, departing for her home on Tuesday. Mrs. Minnie Burton left for Parowan Tuesday morning, to visit her parents who reside at that place. She expects to be absent until September. A. W. Winberg, late of Oakland, California, is expecting to shortly engage en-gage in the buainessof piano-repairing and other expert repair work in Milford. Mil-ford. Mr. aud Mrs. McDuffy of Mason City lo'a, who have bean visitiug the latter's sister, Mrs. Gleason of this city, left for their home on Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. A. I. MacKeen, who have resided on the Froject for the past year, departed a few days ago for Los Angole-t, California, where they will make their future home. A special meeting of the Home and School Organization is called for Saturday Sat-urday evening at 8 o'clock at the High School. Every member is urged to be present. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Tanner returned this week ftom Nephi, whither they went a few days ago, to be present at a family reunion in honor of the 58th birthday of Mrs. Tanner's mother. Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Hedges of Lynndyl visited in the family of Allen Hedges, for a few days this week. Mr. Harvey Hedges, was for many years, city Marshal of Milford. Beaverites held a mass meeting in the Court House, Wednesday oight, to formulate aprotest to the State Board of Equalization, against the proposed lnorease of 20 on sheep and cattle valuations. A camping party, consisting of Mr. ' and Mrs. Joe Tribole, George Larson and the Misses Nora and Mary Roper, 1 is being formed to enjoy a two week's ' outing in the Beaver mountains, about ' August 1st. 1 Local friends of Rev. Allison, who has been conducting special services at Junction, have received cards from him, in which he states that the meetings meet-ings have been very successful and that he expects to return to Beaver this week. The auto truck belonging to T. W. Sloan was accidentally backed iufo H. C. Lewison's Ford, last Saturday, as the latter was standing at the curb, near the Sloan store. The rear wheel ef the Ford was crushed and the car damaged elsewhere. Mr. CD. Johnson, who recently had the misrortune to lose his wife, F.mer-etta F.mer-etta Gifford Johnson, by death, has returned from Cedar and Dixie after leaving his childrdu with their grandparents grand-parents at the latter place. Mr. Johnson wishes through the NEWS, to express his gratitude to those who so kindly gave him of their services aud sympathy sym-pathy during his bereavement. The Milford valley was visited, Monday, with one of the heaviest raina experienced for some years, amounting, amount-ing, in some parts of the valley and in the mountain districts, to almost torrential proportions. Experiments made by Manager Gilbert of the Beaver Couuty Irrigation Company, on unirrigated lands, showed a moisture moist-ure penetration of over five inches in several plaees. While too late for many crops, the rain has been of great benefit to the valley as a whole. Mrs. A. C. Ferguson gave a surprise party, on Wednesday evening of last week, for her daughter, Miss Icie, at her home, two miles east of town. Gaines, kept up till a late hour, and topped off by delicious refreshments, constituted an evening of rare enjoyment. enjoy-ment.
