Show PIONEER PROGRAM Appropriate Exerciei at L. D. S. j Church. While Pioneer Day was not as generally gen-erally observed in Milford as in former years, the" day was brought to a fitting close by an excellent program rendered in th6 L.D.S. church at 7:30 p.m., tht affair being arranged by the Mutual Improvement Im-provement Society and the Primary cepa.tment of the church. The exercises, which were well attended and greatly enjoyed, consisted con-sisted of congregational singing; Prayer by Mrs. Pitchforth; Children's chorus; address on "Our Pioneers," by enneth Schow; toast by Bishop Burns; song by Delia Cottrell: piano solo by Elva Burns; toast by J. S. Hanks; selection by quartette consist ing of Mrs. H. r . Kennaby, Mrs. J. S. Hanks, Fred Reber and E. H. Bird; recitation by Mrs. Burton; address by Russel ParBons; toast by Mrs. Julia A. SmithBon; recitation by Mrs. Cottrell; closing prayer by Mr. R. Wolsey. All the numbers were excellent and elicited deserved applause. The church was tastily decorated for the occasion and presented a handsome appearance, An Interesting feature of the exercises exer-cises was the old " Mormon Trail" in miniature, the work of the Primary department. By means of paste-board j figures to represent the wagons, horses, cattle, Indians, pioneers etc., and with the help of small log houses, wooden forts, rafts, bridges and other features of the trail, a splendid reproduction repro-duction of the original route of the pilgrims was depicted. The rivers were marked by lines of green paint through the sand, and rocks and earth were realistically portrayed. The exhibit which was in charge of Mrs. Bushnell, reflects great credit upon the ohildren and upon their Instructors. The managers of the entertainment are to be commended for their public spirit in furnishing this appropriate recognition of ytali's big holiday. |
