Show Simply Splendid Offers Bistro and Boutique in One ' if J in by Jennifer Wright The Pleasant Grove Chamber Cham-ber of Commerce ceremoniously welcomed Simply Splendid, Pleasant Grove's newest boutique bou-tique and bistro, in a ribbon cutting cut-ting ceremony Thursday, April 21, 2011. Council Member Cindy Boyd officially welcomed owner Dana Engemann on behalf be-half of Mayor Call to the city and the Downtown area. "I love the Downtown area," said Boyd, who shared her vision vi-sion with the crowd. "I hope that when we say Downtown people automatically know we mean Downtown Pleasant Grove." Boyd appreciates all the businesses busi-nesses that take the risk and open in the area. "It is my hope that we can all work together and make Downtown a vibrant spot in the city with businesses like Simply Splendid." Simply Splendid is a boutique bou-tique that sells crafts, jewelry and decor plus dozens of handmade treats like cake pops, cupcakes, chocolate pretzels, cookies and bars made daily by a staff of talented tal-ented bakers. The Bistro, the first deli of its kind on Main Street, offers artisan sandwiches and homemade soups from 11 to 2 p.m. daily. Simply Splendid also offers MTC deliveries featuring cookies and cinnamon rolls. . "I'm excited for this endeavor," endeav-or," said Engemann, referring to opening her boutique and bistro. "I'd like to make Main Street a fun destination point in Pleasant Grove. Visitors will find us surprisingly sur-prisingly different," she added. Simply Splendid recently relocated from Lindon after looking at several locations. Andrew An-drew Engemann described his wife with one word: crafty. "She is all about crafts, crafts, crafts," said Engemann. She started out making crafts for her own line: Cleverly You, selling the line at events like Swiss Days then moved to designing the previous Simply Splendid store. Soon Dana purchased the store and moved it to its current location on 67 South Main Street into a darling vintage house perfectly fit for its new owners. Both Andrew and Dana have ties to Pleasant Grove and wanted to keep the business local. Simply Splendid is located lo-cated at 67 South Main Street in Pleasant Grove. It is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. with the bistro open 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily. |
