Photo courtesy of Timpanogos Times PG Drops Serve to Lone Peak Then Shuts Out AF On Tuesday, April 5, the Vikings headed on a short road trip to Lone Peak High School to try and defeat a top ranked Knight tennis team. Knowing its going to be a tough set of matches and realizing real-izing it is a tough set of matches for the Vikings can be two different dif-ferent things. Many players think that they can beat a higher ranked opponent by actually doing it is usually very tough. And so it was for the Vikings as they faced Lone Peak on the Knights' home court. In Number 1 Singles action ac-tion PG's Gustavo Santos lost to LP's Scott Bohne in two sets, 1-6, 1-6. Number 2 Singles matched PG's Hayden de Hoyos against Tanner Squires and lost, 2-6, 3-6. Tanner Merrill lost to Lone Peaks Stafford Thomas in Number 3 Singles, 2-6, 4-6. PG kept their serves going go-ing and in Number 1 Doubles were able to pull out a three set victory over Lone Peak. PG's Zach Harris and Todd Sparks defeated Scott Christiansen and Blair Robbins, 6-4, 4-6, 7-5. Unfortunately the Number Num-ber 2 Doubles team of Jacob Eddington and Quen Wilson lost to Jens Nielson and Amnion Am-nion Story in a four sets, 6-3, 4-6, 6-7, 3-7. The Vikings were ultimately ulti-mately defeated 1-4. After a week off for Spring Break, the Vikings found themselves facing a good American Fork team on PG's home court on Tuesday, April 26. PG Varsity won the match 5- 0 against the Cavemen. In Number 1 Singles Christiaan Noot blasted Drew Jex in two sets, 6-1, 6-1, while Number 2 Singles Gustavo Santos defeated Hunter Wilson also in two sets, 7-5, 6-3, and PG was off and rolling. In Number 3 Singles PG's Quen Wilson defeated AF's Tanner Stucki who gave Wilson Wil-son a tough match that went three sets, but gave Wilson the victory in the end, 4-6, 6-2, 6- 2. In Number 1 Doubles PG's Zach Harris and Hayden de Hoyos defeated Carter Payne and Cameron Clar, 6-3, 6-2, and in Number 2 Doubles Todd Sparks and Jacob Eddington Ed-dington defeated AF's Dave Clark and Nick Clark in two sets, 6-1,6-1. The JV Team also won their match 5-0 against American Ameri-can Fork. Number 1 Singles Tanner Merrill defeated AF's Brandon Roper, 9-7, and Number 2 Singles gave PG's Ryan Clifford the win over Lance Jones, 8-3. In Number 3 JV Singles PG's Zach Olsen defeated Nathan Hoffman, 8-0, and in Number 1 Doubles action Evan Spencer and Nick Olsen of PG defeated Jordan Hyde and Chandler Judd, 8-5. Number 2 Doubles match gave the Viking's Mark Sheffield and Clayton Chudleigh the victory over AF's Brennan Jeffrey and Jed Baldwin, 8-1. |
