Show It Happened I in Sports .&.. i Marion H. Walker He served as a Lieutenant Lieu-tenant In World War One, died In Salt Lake City In 1952, and was named to the Utah Hall of Fame in 1974. I Clint Larson, born in St. ; George In 1892, was one of the most outstanding track men to attend BYU. He broke the world collegiate High Jump Record at the Penn Relays. The victory called for a ' celebration at the Roberts Hotel In Provo. In 1918 Larson won the " High Jump in the U.S. Championships at Madison Square Garden. He won the High Jump, Low Hurdles, High Hurdles and Pole Vault and finished second in the 100 yard dash in Texas. In 1919 Larson won 8 i first places in a collegiate track meet at Provo. He was finally able to break his :i own high jump record with a leap of 6 feet 9 12 inches. |
