Show GOOD GOOD COOKS 1 The other day I sent my son down to the market to purchase some "plain, ordinary hamburger, and I almost fell over when he came home and told me that it cost $1.40 for two pound packages! If prices keep rising, I just dont know how people are going to manage. This present rise in prices may result in making vegetarians out of all of us. Today, I will endeavor to give you some t ch your recipes that will meat dollar just a teeny bit father, I hope. The first one is for what I choose to call Minute Steaks. These are tender, steaks that give the royal real competition. Following will be some other price savers. Here are a few ways to serve them. SWISS STEAK: Very good when served with baked potatoes, garlic bread, coleslaw and I always use fruit that is in season for dessert, because of its abundance and lower prices. STEAK N POTATOE SUPPER: Buttered whole carrots, waldorf salad, and gingerbread. MINUTE-STEAROLLS: Green beans K with almonds, italian salad, pickled peppers and now, cherry pie and ice cream. MINUTE STEAK ROLLS 6 medium sized minute steaks 1 broiled chopped mushrooms 1 cup chopped parsley 34 cup chopped onion 1 cup shredded or grated parmesian cheese 1 can condensed consomme 2 tablespoons cornstarch Line up the steaks ready to fill. Drain mushrooms, reserving the liquid. Sprinkle the chopped mushrooms, parsley, onion and cheese over steaks. Fasten with toothpicks. Season each steak roll slowly with salt and pepper. Starting at the narrow end, tightly roll up each steak, fasten with toothpicks. Brown each steak roll slowly in 2 tablespoons hot fat in skillet. Add consomme. Cover. Simmer 30 minutes or till tender. Remove steaks to hot platter. ' Christensen, temple president, officiated at the ceremony. Combine flour, salt and pepper. Coat the meat with flour mixture. In skillet, brown meat slowly in hot fat. Alternate salmon and string beans in greased 2 quart casserole. Melt 6 tbsp. butter and add flour, salt and pepper. Stir bean liquid and milk until blended and add to flour mixture. Stir until smooth and pour over the bean and salmon mixture. and top with bread, crumbs to which the remaining 2 tbsp. butter have beenadded. Bake in a moderately hot oven (400 degree) for thirty minutes or until golden brown on top. Serves 6 to 8. ' Note: Do you know that a juice can opener makes an excellent tool for shrimp?
