Show THE BINGHAM BULLETIN, BINGHAM CANYON,. VTAII Thursday, July 19, 1928 lngs are the two most essential tie. menta of successful merchandising and anyone who disregards these fundamentals are doomed to failure sooner or later. CLOSING AT SIX P. M. Last week the merchants started a discussion in regard to closing their stores at 6 o'clock in the evening in order to give emjijoyeeg a little more time for recreation after these hot days and It wa decided it would only be fair to make the change for the good of all. It was thought as jiont employees work eight I'O'irs and get off around '4 o'clock, that two hours would give them ample time to do ne-cessary shopping and not be of any treat inconvenience to anyone. Accordingly an agreement was drawn up whereby all who signed agreed on their homr to close their places of business at six o'clock each nlglit except paynlghts, Saturdays and the days preceding holidys. All mer-chants in the business district signed the agreement which took effect on Monday of this week. On Monday evening all places closed promptly except .one store which kept open la-te- i(. On Tuesday evening three places disregarded the agreement and kept open to a late hour taking advantage of the merchants who had self respect enough to keep thlr agreement. If these people did not want to keep the agreement why did they put tlieJr names to It? How can they expect ko have the confidence or respect of any person who knows they wilfully broke this agwement which pledged their honor to Us keeping? How can one believe what they say of their merchandise If a promise on their word of honor fheans nothing to them?
