Lay ton, has graduated gradu-ated from the U.S. Air Force aircraft fuel systems mechanic mecha-nic course at Chanute Air Force Base, 111. During the course, students were taught to inspect and repair intricate aircraft fuel systems. They also earned credits toward to-ward an associate degree de-gree through the Community College of the Air Force. He is a 1986 graduate gradu-ate of Layton High School. G.W. Facer Army Reserve Private Pri-vate 1st Class Geoffrey Geof-frey W. Facer, son of Marry Cayle and Wayne C. Facer of 659 E. Hills Drive, Bountiful, has completed com-pleted basic training at Fort Jackson, S.C. During the training, train-ing, students received re-ceived instruction in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, read-ing, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, first aid, and Army history and traditions. tra-ditions. He is a 1987 graduate gradu-ate of Viewmont High School. Lynn T. Merrill Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Lynn T. Merrell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Merrell of 986 E. Fair Oaks Drive, Bountiful, has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Tex. During the six weeks of training the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs cus-toms and received special training in human hu-man relations. In addition, airmen who complete basic training earn credits toward an associate degree through the community college of the Air Force. He is a 1987 graduate gradu-ate of Bountiful High School. T. M. Tran Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Thanh M. Tran, a 1981 graduate . of Davis High School recently participated in Fleet Ex 3-87 aboard the Destroyer USS Hayler homeported in Norfolk, Va. The exercise involved in-volved approximately 12 U.S. Navy ships and shore-based U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force aircraft, and will take place in the Western West-ern Atlantic, Straits of Florida, and the Gulf of Mexico. The exercise is designed de-signed to provide multi-ship and battkgroup training, improve fleet readiness, and continue con-tinue the training of U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force units in joint operations. He joined the Navy in November, 1981. T. Judkins Army Private Timothy R. Judkins, son of Robert E. Judkins Jud-kins of 2875 N. 400 W., Layton, has been decorated with the Army Achievement Medal in West Germany. Ger-many. The Achievement Medal is awarded to soldiers for meritorious merito-rious service, acts of courage, or other accomplishments. Judkins is a combat com-bat engineer with the 12th Engineer Battalion. De Priest of 974 S. 225 E., Layton, has graduated gradu-ated from the air traffic traf-fic control navigational naviga-tional aids equipment course at Fort Gordon, Gor-don, Ga. The course prepares pre-pares enlisted personnel per-sonnel to maintain and repair communications communi-cations and navigational naviga-tional equipment located lo-cated in Army air traffic control towers. Bullock of 34 E. 3400 S., Bountiful, has graduated gradu-ated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Tex. I . Gregory T. Rasmussen I J. Franklin Marine Sgt. Jay D. Franklin, son of Jerry, D. and Penny A.1 Franklin of 488 E. 450 S., Clearfield, recently recent-ly received a Letter of Appreciation. He received the citation in recognition of his outstanding performance while stationed at Marine Corps Air Station, Yuma, Ariz. A 1981 graduate of Clearfield High School, he joined the Marine Corps in February Feb-ruary 1982. Cadet Gregory t. Rasmussen, son of Gary J. and Athleen G. Rasmussen of 646 W. 1600 N., West Bountiful, Bounti-ful, received practical work in military leadership at the U.S. Army ROTC advanced camp, Fort Lewis, Wash. The six-week camp, attended by cadets normally nor-mally between their third and fourth year of college, includes instruction in-struction in communications, communi-cations, management and survival training. L Successful completion comple-tion of the advanced camp and graduation from college results in a commission as a second lieutenant in either the U.S. Army, Army Reserve or National Na-tional Guard for the cadet. ' Rasmussen is a student stu-dent at Weber State College. His wife, Debbie, is the daughter of B. Lynn and Sharon .Barnes of 241 N. 600 IE., North Salt Lake. |
