Show Clearfield wins host volleyball tournament; Woods Cross Lady Wildcats lose to Hillcrest 23 points, Stephanie Reading scored 21 points. At Clearfield, the Lady Falcons won the championship with a 48-39 victory over Viewmont. Clearfield played the first two games without center Promise Mcintosh, who is recovering from a bout with scarlet fever. Still, the Falcons downed Ben Lomond and edged West to reach the finals. Viewmont led 13-10 after one period, but Clearfield took a 24-23 lead at the half. It remained close until the final three minutes, when the Falcons finally put Viewmont away. Mcintosh had 14 points, Kim Hill 16 and Amber Poll 10 for the Falcons, who are now 4-1 on the year. Clearfield will play Davis in Kaysville today at 4:30 p.m. Viewmont is also 4-1 now, and reached the finals with a 71-42 win over Mountain Crest, and a 47-43 squeaker over Layton. This past weekend, Clearfield captured its own tournament with a victory over Viewmont in the finals, fin-als, while Woods Cross lost a close one in the final of the Lady Wildcat Invitational to talented Hillcrest. At Woods Cross, the Wildcats fell to the Huskies 48-43, despite the fine play of Marci Heaps and Jodie Warhurst. Hillcrest, paced by guard Nikki Eyre, took a 15-1 1 lead after one period and led 23-18 at the half. Woods Cross often came back to within two points, but couldn't quite catch the Huskies. Hus-kies. Eyre finished the championship game with 21 points to lead all scorers, scor-ers, while Heaps had 13 and Warhurst 10 for the Wildcats. Woods Cross is now 4-1 on the young season, and will host Skyline Sky-line this afternoon at 4 p.m. Davis and Bountiful were both 1-2 in the tourney, the Darts beating beat-ing Cyprus 60-35 on day one, then losing 51-30 to Hillcrest and 43-41 to Weber. Heather Peel scored 48 points in the three games, Becky Rees had 26 points, and Jaylynn Jorgensen chipped in 18. The Darts are now 1-2 on the year, and head for the East tournament this weekend. Bountiful lost an opening round game to Hillcrest 63-40, then dropped drop-ped a 59-47 decision to Cyprus before be-fore thrashing Olympus 50-24.
