Show The "Rag Baby," A large audience greeted "A Rag Baby" company at the Theatre last night. Those present were unavoidably kept waiting for an hour on account of a late train, but Mr. Weihe and his orchestra enlivened the time with some excellent music until the curtain arose and the fun commenced. While "A Rag Baby" is a combination of absurdities, it pleases all who enjoy a hearty laugh. The piece abounds in the most extravagant and ridiculous situations possible to conceive of, but which are rendered in a pleasing manner by Mr. Frank .Daniels, as Old Sport, and his right bower Mr. Mitchell, as Tony Joy. Miss Rice captivated the house in her clever acting, while the rest of the company com-pany supported their respective parts in accord with the stars. Old Sport is one of those eccentric fellows who dream of whisky and high life, and in the drug store act he is simply immense. . The house was kept in a roar of laughter, which eyidenced that all present were getting value re- I ceived. As a budget of laugh-provoking absurdities that pleases for a night, the "Rag Baby" is a success, and a large j house will undoubtedly witness to-night's performance. |
