Show Will Drive Off American Fishermen St. Jobs, N. B., February 23 This morn-, ing a reporter had an interview with Captain Scott, of theKoyal Navy, who has just arn rived from Ottawa. While there the CajH tain was summoned by the Marine and Fisheries Fish-eries Department to arrange a plan of ate-tion ate-tion for protecting the Canadian fisheries in the event of a refusal , by Congress to appoint ap-point a commiawon.- - The - Captain stated that nothing would be done until an answer had been received from the United States authorities. "If it is unfavorable" said, he, "cruisers will at, once be put on to drive the American fisher-; men off our shores. A. neet or Bieumers schooners, mounted with guns, will be employed em-ployed for that purpose. There will be about ten vessels required, six schooners and four steamers, and they will cruise all the way from Gaspe toEastport. jThe schooners will each carry twenty- three men. One steamer is now-on her -way- to drive away any American fishermen who may be seen to steal Canadian fish." ' The Captain declares that not a moment will be wasted after the answer is received, and no quarter will be given to poachers. If, they . will not be driven off they will be captured.
