Show The Lead Market. Lead still holds its own with extreme firmness, reports the Denver Circular, and along the entire horizon there is not a single sign of weakness. It is clear that we should have been forced to import im-port lead for domestic use this year had not the Richmond stepped into the breach and put 2,500 tons of its surplus into market. We shall now, in all probability, prob-ability, go over the New Year with a lesser stock on hand than we have had any time for a decade. Since our last writing, sales all over the country have been very large and cannot be estimated at less than 3,000 tons, including about 700 at St. Louis at $4.15 and $4.12) for corroding with $4.10 for common as much more at $4.15 at Chicago, and nearly 2,000 tons at New York, bein 700 corroding at $4.30, and 1,200 common at $4.25 a part of the latter being Richmond, Rich-mond, now in transit from San Francisco by the Pacific Mail route. Consumers throughout the land acknowledge that they are doing a good business, and the various combinations bring in sworn returns re-turns of more lead used than ever before. London shows no variation from 11 10s or about $4.55, duty paid, New York. |
